Say it ain't so Joe? Happy valley just turned into Valley of the _________. Fill in the blank.
Valley of the pissed off, largest alumni association in the U.S. It's about to get ugly if PSU doesn't do something and quickly. The saying "We are Penn State" isn't just an idle utterance.

Would you be able to live with yourself if all you did was tell your boss about this? And continued to let this guy walk?
Like I said, I have only kept up with it casually, but something of that magnitude there is no way I could live with myself.
This will probably be the end of JoePa's career, which is sad that it will end with this.

i am really just finding out about this story today. For like a half hour, now, I've been trying to figure out whether there's a basis for saying that maybe Paterno did all he was supposed to do and it's not on him. After all, he's the football coach.
However, it's clear that he was aware of the the eyewitness account, and he was undoubtedly aware that nothing was really done to investigate the situation. If he did nothing to push the issue, even quietly, considering that he did not witness the events and the allegations are extremely serious, then he is a failure, and everybody who ever heard about it is a failure. Penn St. gets a whole new football program starting tomorrow, in my opinion.

I have casually kept up with this, but what I don't understand is why is JoePa taking so much heat for this? Didn't he report it once he knew about it? Or did he try to "sweep it under the table"?
The GA told Paterno that he saw Sandusky having anal sex with a ten year old boy in the locker room. Paterno then told the AD about it, and then I guess he decided it was no longer his business. I've lost a little respect for him. Why he, or any of the other PS officials, didn't go to the cops pisses me off.

He kept brining kids to PSU facilities even after he was told not to and either no one did anything about it or no one could do anything about it.
The facilities yes, but not the locker room or showers. They didn't want to do anything about it otherwise he would have already been getting violated and pushed around like he did those kids in prison.

Go read the report

Don't let other's form your opinion. If you look at the timeline Pope JoePa knew he had a pedophile on staff in 1998, fired him in 1999, had him get caught again in 2002, and allowed him to continue to use Penn State to seduce young boys until 2009-2010.

quote:That is a bit unfair.
He asked if the kid liked or some shite. He thought it was relevant.
He questioned whether the kid was consenting or fighting when McQueary witnessed the incident with the thought that it might have some effect on McQueary's reaction. Still completely irrelevant and ignorant, but not as bad as some are making it out to be.
Problem is that he has a history of "shock-jock" posting for reaction, IIRC. AKA,the "OT Syndrome."

After reading the Grand Jury report, I can never look at Penn State the same way. It is pathetic and sick how this was covered up for so long.
I guess the new Big 10 slogan can be: Higher Education through fornication of younger boys.

Joe Pa is a shithead because he didn't follow up. He should have told the AD, "Here is what I know now take care of it the way you want. I'm calling the campus police tomorrow and State Police the next day. It behooves us all that you call them first so it isn't a suprise when I call them."
Joe Pa never followed up. He wanted it to disappear.

Anyone have an opinion on what the NCAA should do? I mean this is a huge deal....If giving an inner city kid a car a do nothing job and his parents condo is a violation this has to be something right?

Not an NCAA issue, IMO. But the football team will be negatively effected just as if they were severely penalized. Recruiting and PR will take a huge hit.
