Man I just feel that this has to go above the president of PSU. This had to go to the board of trustees.

And it should.

But I'm just focusing on what can be cleaned up in the immediate future as far as the people who have figurative blood on their hands through direct action, not people who willfully ignored potential problems around the school in general and the football team in particular.

Spanier is going to be hosed before its all over. their is major blood on his hands. believe me he signed off on the "retirement" and banning of Sandusky from bringing kids to the facilities the first time. He's done.

Assuming Sandusky is guilty, then:

he will most likely strike a plea deal, after he is tried and convicted in the media for weeks or months it takes for this to play out

part of his plea deal will be a full confession which will burn the PSU admin and cause a full scale house cleaning

this full confession will become public record and there will be no cover for those responsible

we will then know who at PSU and The Second Mile knew what, when they knew it and what they did or didn't do about it

this public record will become the basis of the damages case against PSU and The Second Mile by the victims

since Sandusky will have confessed, the awards will be in the multi-millions of dollars and will likely gut the Charity, causing it to fold

because PSU is a state entity the damages payments will be public record (unlike the Catholic Church)

this will set back the University, the community and obviously the football program for years to come

Baylor (Patrick Dennehy) and Maryland (Len Bias) Basketball are situations that come to mind but neither are remotely in the scope of this case

Baylor's the closer of the two, as you had coaches doing outlandish shite and then instructing people to cover it up when the heat was on due to Dennehy's murder by Dotson.

If the evidence is strong, the DA might be under too much scrutiny or pressure to even offer a plea. Sandusky would have to roll on some major people to make that work.

it very well could play out that way. If Sandusky doesn't off himsel.f I have to think he would have done it already if he was going to

"It's like winning a football game, even sometimes like winning a championship," Sandusky said Thursday of what it feels like to help kids like Joshua Sinisi.

Sinisi, an Altoona native, was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder in first grade, Sinisi's mom, Marianne, said. A doctor referred them to The Second Mile, she said. Sinisi and his brother, Shawn, now 18, attended The Second Mile Camp.

"He provided an enormous amount of time and effort into making sure I grew up into the successful young man I am today," Sinisi wrote in an e-mail. "He and The Second Mile have helped me learn to become a team player in life, goals, activities, and everyday challenges."

Sinisi, 22, who went to work in the corporate office of Dick's Sporting Goods after an internship with the company, credits Sandusky with teaching him to overcome challenges in life and among a long list of attributes, called his mentor "kind, loving, caring, generous, strong, positive, successful."

"He taught me to be strong and never let anything [or anyone] stand in my way between what I wanted," he said. "He and The Second Mile made me realize that having a disability is actually very normal and everyone is the way they are for a reason and that I was special to him and my family."

Marianne Sinisi said Sandusky made her son feel important and capable.

"He's an amazing man," she said.

She praises who her son who recently graduated with a Pittsburgh Technical Institute with a degree in information technology - network security and computer forensics.

"I couldn't be prouder of the kid - to overcome everything that he did," she said.

From homework help to checking-in phone calls, Sandusky was there for Sinisi over the years.

"Jerry is the definition of 'a great man.' Whatever you ask him to do or be there for you, he will do it without any hesitation," Sinisi said. "Jerry is, well, Jerry - one of a kind."

None of this matters. BTK helped people....Hitler helped people...it doesn't mitigate their actions one bit.

when the Gilbert Gauthe case was happening down here, the layers kept getting peeled back and the scope just kept going on and on and on. All the while people were saying, how could this happen when you (the Church) knew he was sick and so many people came forward to stop him during the years?

Ugh...I need to get away from this for awhile. It's a bit overwhelming for everyone up here. Can't really believe this is happening at PSU.

I used to have monthly meetings in State College and I enjoyed the drive up. Especially in the fall when the leaves changed from green to orange to brown over a few month period.

I have spent time on Penn State's campus more than any other campus than LSU.

It is still a great institution and I still wish I could go there once a month for an overnight work visit. Many good times in Happy Valley...Don't let this bum you out.

This could happen anywhere. Colleges/University's are notorious for covering up crimes...it's not good for business.

Did you read the Michael Weinreb piece on Grantland. Well written and probably expresses some of the emotions you are feeling?

I definitely will WDE and thanks for keeping tabs on the details. I just gotta shut it off for a bit. I think I'm going to go watch some old Frazier fights. Stupid ESPN bottom line though... .

I have so many damn games on VHS from the 80's and 90's with that scumbag leading our defense. I really enjoy watching the old games because we have such a rich tradition here and now watching those games and knowing they'll show Sandusky plenty of times during the game just makes me sick to my stomach.

It's just a tough thing to deal with right now. I think I'm in whatever stage sadness is...feels like going through the stages of death.

Frazier vs Quarry now at least.

Joe Pa just doesnt give a frick.

That old fricker has been walking on water in that town for 50 years.

This situation is almost striking me as "cult" like. Basically, Joe Pa is the leader of the cult, thinks he is god, and is saying "WTF are you gonna do to me? Thats right....you arent gonna do shite because I own this town".

And the sad part is...people there may still listen and follow him even after all this.

Thanks bud. This is a tough one to take. It's going to be a tough pill to swallow for some time. They were the first sports team of any kind that I loved and I never had any ill feeling toward the program. I can remember being 3 years old and listening to them on the radio with my Dad (who worked at Bethlehem Steel...this has to be devastating for him as well.)

It's like they pulled the rug out from under us with this guy. I really thought Sandusky was a great man. Total burn.

only reason I said that was:

1) a trial would be horrific for ALL parties
2) a Sandusky plea brings a full confession

as terrible as this is, IMHO the best thing that can happen is Sandusky kills himself, PSU cleans house, The Second Mile and PSU settle with the victims and everyone moves on

I feel your pain. PSU and Paterno have been one of my favorites since growing up. I've always pictured him as an old school hard nosed coach, father figure, and good guy. I just don't understand why he didn't make sure the cops knew about it. frick telling your bosses. If someone rapes a 10 year call the fricking cops immediately. And the GA that watched it and did nothing to stop it? That's fricking pathetic.

#2 may be a problem.

By that, I mean "so much shite went on, how could he possibly remember all of it, let alone confess to it?"

Honestly that angers me the most.

I know and expect evil in our society, Sandusky, but i also expect the average person to have some sort of moral constitution.

To see a ten year old being raped and do nothing....I don't even know what to say.

Being a Louisiana native and still living here, it's been tough but I can't imagine being anywhere near University Park today. I never would have imagined a scenario like this unfolding at PSU.

I wonder what that child thinks now when he sees that red hair on the sideline of Penn State games, barking orders straight from Paterno. It makes me so fricking angry.
