Just throwing this out here - I wondered if the HBO Hard Knocks series causes some distraction in the preseason and makes for a rusty week 1.
I went back and took a look at the history - since the show came back in 2007 (it was on in '01 & '02, then took a break), there have been 8 seasons (not counting 2011, when it wasn't on), the featured team is 2-5-1 ATS. Only the 2008 Cowboys and the 2014 Falcons covered the spread.
Taking that theory to this year, KC is +1 @ HOU. Coupled with Houston's sure-to-be abysmal offense w/o Foster, and I'm rolling with KC

I think you're reading too much into that stat, most of the teams on Hard Knock usually just suck

Me too, but we had no reason to believe that Brady was going to be playing week one. I wonder exactly how quick the line changed on 5dimes after the ruling.

Besides, it's not like these teams are dome teams...they're used to playing in the elements.
