How many deals y'all think get done while sitting at the hotel bar sipping on pappy van winkle?

Rangers bringing back Carlos Gomez. 1 year $11.5 mil. Loved what he brought to the team, so I'm glad we have him for a whole season. Still need more in that lineup and a pitcher or two

I like it as well. Now we need to pull one of these TB starters via trade.

Nice. No real risk either w/ it being one year. Needed a CF with some pop. I'd assume that's where he'll be, but who knows.

Surprised, would think they could get more for Solar. Wonder if the deal is contingent on Davis signing a new deal.

I am very nervous about the health of Davis's arm.

Would still like to go after Hamilton (if the price to trade isn't too high) or bring back Desmond. I want Choo as the utility OF at this point with his non-existent health.

Take it Napoli is our target at 1B or are we still trying for the Parrot?

Davis and Maddon go back to the TB days. If we are moving Soler, I feel real confident an extension is agreed to.

If healthy, this is Chapman/Jansen performance at a serious financial discount:

Wade Davis is the only pitcher in the history of baseball with an ERA of 1.00 or less in back-to-back years with 50 IP. Ever.

Last 3 years, 1.18 ERA and only 3 HRs allowed.

LINK

quote:

A day after trading Chris Sale to the Red Sox, the White Sox are now “in serious talks” with multiple teams about their other star left-hander Jose Quintana, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports (Twitter link). The Astros and Nationals are two of the clubs involved in discussions.

The Astros were rumored to have interest in Sale, but Houston’s refusal to include Alex Bregman in any trade likely removed them from the bidding, given how Chicago was looking for only elite prospects for Sale (like maybe the game’s best prospect in Yoan Moncada). The White Sox undoubtedly want quite a bit for Quintana as well, though their demands could be closer to the Astros’ comfort zone.

While I'd prefer a more experience player at first, unless we're going to move him, I think it's time to let Gallo sink or swim. If he can play strong defense and hit 25 bombs at the bottom of the lineup(which he can do both), I think we would be just fine. There's enough offense in the lineup that we can afford a hole at the bottom.

Interesting concept. Hope it works out for you better than it did for the Astros.

Davis is an absolute super stud and about as good as any reliever in the game. The talent and performance is not the issue at all. I just worry about his forearm health. Still a good trade for both sides.

But these past couple of seasons, we've almost been solid from top to bottom with catcher being that hole up until getting Lucroy.

Unless he progresses a lot this offseason and spring training, I don't know if they will want that big of a hole in the lineup. Yeah, he might his 25 jacks, but that BA might be around .210 if we're lucky and way too many Ks.

I hope he turns things around because he's been such an interesting prospect back to when he was committed to LSU (I knew he wasn't going there but still) and plus I want him in a homerun derby at some point

I look at it as since we were able to upgrade offense at the catcher position from Chirinos to Lucroy, from a raw numbers stand point, the drop off in HR/RBI stand point, is minimal... if any by allowing Gallo to play everyday. Lucroy should get some time at first base as well.

Moreland put up 22/60/.298/.422 last season. That's really not that hard to replace and realistic numbers for Gallo to achieve.

I didn't realize Gallo is still only 23, it seems like he's been around forever as a prospect

According to Jeff Passan , Edwin E can't even get offers of 3-60 mil
