I believe Doc Emrick could make soccer sound exciting.

Damn it...
But Tokarski is playing his arse off. I swear for his 3rd playoff start he is going to be valuable for Montreal as either a backup to CP31 or trade bait.

I don't know Marty, I wasn't able to hang on to that sports almanac.

Man, Tokarski is playing awesome. He absolutely stole one from Marty.
Rangers are playing better and making less mistakes

BREAKING NEWS: #Caps Promote Brian MacLellan to General Manager, Name Barry Trotz Coach.
Don't like either hire myself but could be worse.

Thrilled with Trotz. I'm generally "meh" on MacLellan. I liked GMGM more than most Caps fans and think that the Caps biggest issue has been constant change, so I like the stability of promoting the AGM. That said, I wanted someone out of Chicago or LA for obvious reasons.

Some Caps fans and insiders not happy with the GM hire.

A month ago, when #Caps fired McPhee, Leonsis said he wanted a “fresh set of eyes and new voice”. MacLellan has been w/ the team since 2000.

Katie wrote a terrific piece a month ago exposing just how dysfunctional the Oates tenure was. But I think one of the thing that came through was that th GM and Oates were on vastly different pages, and the one Oates was on sucked (It got so bad, our goalie coach simply stopped listening to Oates' direction entirely).
But I like this hire precisely because it isn't another wild veer of course. I've been pretty consistent in my main criticism of the Caps: they keep changing their mind every season on what the plan is, veering wildly from pole to pole. Worst yet, they keep listening to outside "experts" who have been consistently wrong about the Caps. We have a roster built to hold the puck and skate, and we're trying to play dump and chase, defensively conservative hockey. It's stupid, and when it inevitably failed, the hockey media again crucified the Caps for it, forgetting it was their advice in the first place.
Stop chnaging the plan every month. You have a roster to play attacking, free wheeling hockey. the best teams in the league also play a style relying on puck possession. COMMIT TO WHO YOU ARE. DON'T BE ASHAMED OF YOUR IDENTITY.

Isn't Trotz a defensive minded coach from Nashville? That's what I saw at least.
