WM game should've been 57-22. WM had 3 touchdowns and 2 picks called back. I've never seen a more one side game from the refs. WM will take the win and move on.

Wm shouldn't have a problem with anyone, will win 5a this year easily.

Acadiana has something to say about that.

WM averaged 6 penalties a game. Tonight 28. Barbe had 20 more penalties on the year than WM before tonight. Tonight Barbe had 4 penalties. It was 16 vs WM 11 players . Good try refs. Shameful!!

Also, look out for Barbe in a few years. Their best 2 players were a freshman and sophomore. They played hard and made several great catches. Not trying to take away from the kids' effort, but 29-4 on penalties is ridiculous.

It appears a season that started with some questionable officiating will wind down with some, too.
Here's the difference:
While some questioned whether Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville got a call or two (or three) in the final plays of its victory over West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer on Labor Day weekend, those watching Monroe (La.) West Monroe take on Lake Charles (La.) Barbe Friday night left wondering if West Monroe got even a single call all night.
West Monroe, No. 8 in the RivalsHigh Top 100, ultimately prevailed, 34-29, but it appeared it had to defeat two opponents to do so.
Consider:
West Monroe was penalized 28 times in the game - or 21 times more than its per-game average of seven;
Barbe was whistled just five times - none of which came in the second half;
West Monroe was called for pass interference on each of Barbe's first four drives - calls that helped limit the Rebels' advantage to just 21-15 at halftime;
West Monroe was whistled for holding six times, despite running the ball 42 times;
Barbe, which passed the ball 60 times, was called for holding just once.
Paul Turner made plenty of plays. Too many times they were called back.
The officiating crew, which was based in Baton Rogue, needed an escort to leave the field and officers to protect their walk from the stadium to their cars. They would have needed ear plugs to avoid hearing the boos from the crowd throughout the game, especially at the end.
West Monroe offensive coordinator Glenn Hunt took the high road postgame accepting the blame for the penalties.
"We knew (Barbe) would be moving and jumping around on us," he told WMSports.net. "We worked on it in practice and I guess I did not do a good enough job. We will work on it again this week."
While not all of the 28 penalties were unjustified, (it is, after all, hard to ignore a player who false starts), the holding calls and the pass interference penalties that went against West Monroe were questionable at best.
With each close call and the score narrowing, the fans became more restless.
Hunt, however, wouldn't join the crowd.
"(Barbe is) a good football team," he said. "We played sloppy and it nearly cost us. Turnovers in their end, the penalties, and not capitalizing on plays nearly beat us."
Let's not pull punches: The officials almost beat the Rebels.
Barbe coach Jimmy Shaver joked earlier in the week that if his team didn't beat West Monroe, he would retire.
Shaver was gracious in defeat.
"They're good," he said. "They made some big plays and that was the difference."
Hunt credited his fans for keeping the team in the game.
"I challenged the fans of the Rebel Club and they responded," he said. "They were the 12th man tonight."
Some may argue that the 13th-18th men were in officials uniforms.

quote:Kind of Ironic that Acadina ran for over 400 yards against Zachary with the same Veer Offense that Bob Howell used while at Zachary. Who say's the veer can't work. I remember when the bronco's use to be able to run the ball.
Guess the 3 touchdown prediction might have been legit![]()

East Feliciana vs Calvary Baptist is going to be a big game. EF is the most talented 2A team in the state. Probably the most talented team in the BR area regardless of class.

holy cross lost
all that preseason hype, the #1 small schools ranking, and they can't even outperform what the chalmations did in 3A. hell we bowed out to state champion and semifinalist lutcher in memorable games, not the likes of west felici-who?
if it was a perfect world, refs would do to curtis every week what they did to WM last night.
it's a shame st. aug and st. thomas more are playing a dome-quality matchup in the quarterfinals
