Why in the world would you write a guaranteed contract with the risk of injury much higher compared to the two other major sports?

I would raise the minimum salary. If you’re on the active roster for one game in a season, you’re a millionaire (if they’re not already). How many players do teams typically use in a season?

If you play in 40 regular and postseason games combined you go on the NFL lifetime medical plan

Dear God, I hope this never becomes the norm in the NFL. Teams get ruined by those contracts in other sports and I really don't want to see the NBA virus spread to other leagues.

Cleveland likely ruined this with their Watson contract. It set a massive precident at least for the QB market. It will certainly spill over soon.

Not sure how anyone with a brain could be anti union in pro sports. Owners have proven time and time again that they will frick over players while they rake in mountains of cash.

But the NFLPA is worthless. Too many players, too much of a wage disparity, too short a career. They can’t do anything.

One hit in the NFL could take out a career.

You can’t have guaranteed contracts in football.

That’s all the more reason to have them

The NFL also hands out huge signing bonuses which are mostly guaranteed.

That’s a cop out. How many career ending injuries do you actually see in the NFL? Even Alex Smith came back.

Pitchers pop ligaments everyday

I am. Name the single play, career ending injuries that you can recall from the last decade or so.

It’s not 1979 anymore.

Most career ending injuries now, you don’t know it until it’s three, four, five years later and no other teams call you…

I get it but my point is that the injury excuse for football players is chickenshit

Adrian Peterson came back from an ACL in like 10 months. Cam Akers tore his Achilles in July and played in the playoffs. Alex Smith damn near lost his leg and came back.

Guaranteed contracts won’t happen for several reasons but the injury excuse is nonsense.

I'm fine with fully guaranteed contracts if they're mandated to be no longer than 3 years in length.

Other than that, get fricked. Not looking forward to every mid level player holding out for a guaranteed contract after one above average year, holding teams hostage for the next 5 years with a shitty contract.

horseshite.

We're comparing the injury risk to the other 2 majors along with their contracts.Odds are far greater for a serious injury in NFL compared to MLB and NBA.

Good Lord,talk about cherry picking.
Of COURSE some players come back from injuries but others come back diminished or shortened.

I like how you pick these three while ignoring the hundreds of other players that careers were ended short due to injuries
