Why build a retractable roof if it’s closed for a game like tonight? It’s clear and 56 degrees.

Houston does this in baseball as well. They like the added crowd noise by keeping it covered.

Don't they have a 60/80 rule?

The default on these retractable roof stadiums should be having them open. However, it seems clearly the opposite. Such a wasteful architectural expenditure.

The retractable roof was probably a selling point in the scam.

So basically Houston splurged on a mid-life crisis convertible only to find out that they should have just gotten a Beetle instead.

Hasn’t been open in 5 years. Complete waste of money. Funny thing is, at the beginning they would leave it open in hot weather, feeling that it would be to their advantage against northern teams. Then, Pittsburgh came to town, forced to wear black...people were passing out because of the heat...and the Steelers proceeded to blow them out.

Then they adopted the 80-50 thing, which of course, they still do not abide by...Tonight being a prime example.

what about:

wind
rain
snow
fog
heavy dew/haze

not saying any of these apply, but they are good reasons to keep the roof closed
