Not exactly SEC related, but...

...thank God USC has some competition now with UCLA. I am sick of hearing every year that "this year's team" is the greatest USC team EVER!! I have officially become a bandwagon UCLA fan. Once Norm Chow, and Nieuheisel (sp?) get that team moving in the right direction with their great recruiting class from this year, it could be interesting.

USC can't help it that the Pac 10 usually only have 2-3 good teams. What should they leave the conference? It's not USC's fault Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Auburn sucked when they played them.

UCLA hasn't really been a gridiron threat to USC since Terry Donahue, but it's nice to see them becoming a thorn once again.
And unfortunately one can blame all programs west of the Mississippi, especially once-strong Wash, ASU, Az, Co, Neb, Stan, Cal,etc..as the fall of their programs has led to a USC that even can cherrypick those state's/program's best ballers..they are the defacto entire west of Miss River banner carrier football program in terms of BCS title-contender for a decade now..as Utah's two unbeaten campaigns fell on deaf ears.
Which has helped create a momentum that has led to them being able to going into Pa, Fla, La, Tex,etc..and land some serious ballers from underneath national powers.
They are in terms of recruiting, far stronger than ever, even the days under John McKay.
They're Evil!

ucla is going to get frog stomped by SC this year.
Stanford is a bigger threat with a top 20 recruiting class for Harbaugh, and he can coach circles around Chow-heisel.
fucla.

Yeah, nevermind Oklahoma and Texas...

alot of people on this board really have no idea what Harbaugh has done so far in his coaching career. It looks like he's turned around Stanford as well.

USC is nervous about playing Stanford now. Can you imagine being scared to play Tulane, like, ever. I realize Stanford is better than Tulane, there is just no example in the SEC that fits.

You know what I mean give or take a few rivers west of Austin and/or Norman.

I think Utah would get the nod if they went undefeated/untied again.
They're 2-0 in BCS games now, and while Bama may have been a little overrated last season, they were still pretty damned good. The beatdown Utah put on the Tide was impressive.
Utah now has enough "BCS Pedigree" to get into a BCSCG.

Utah needs there to be a season like 2007 to get into the NCG. That's the only way a "mid-major" is going to get in is over a 2-loss team

I agree, they've now sold their program as legit and tough, and put a clear line of demarcation from say the Boise's and Fresno's and Hawaii's of the non-USC/Pac-10 west coasters. And dare say usurped BYU as the Mormon State's football power for over a decade now, going back to the McBride era.

The problem for Stanford is that they don't have the money to keep Harbaugh out of a bigger program or even the NFL. Their athletic department is having serious finanacial troubles and is already having to make significant cuts to a number of programs
