What is the reason Lebron has never participated in the Slam dunk competition.Wonder what the reasoning is behind that?

How come the supposed best player for 10 years only has 3 rings?

2 reasons why LeBron can't be GOAT that we've seen in this thread:

1. He wore a safety pin

2. He didn't do a Slam Dunk contest

This board is so bad sometimes.

You tell me, you tell me why he didn't compete? I can't wait to hear this reply.

It's always in discussion who is the best every year lately in the NBA.

Anyone with any kind of knowledge of the NBA says that LeBron has been the best for a decade. There's no comparison.

Bill Russell was so bad-arse...he won rings as a player-COACH.

Lebron is a physical specimen...but compared to killers like MJ, Bird, and Kobe....the dude is a bitch.

If not rings, then what is?

I agree rings can't be the sole factor, but when comparing top 10 players it is the most important factor. Something must be said for a player having two 3 peats in his career. I mean, really think about that. Wins 3 in a row, takes 1 1/2 seasons off stupidly but then wins 3 in a row again.

I can't believe being part of a dunk contest is a criteria for measuring how good a player is.

Well he wasn't the x-man in my example, and I think MJ is the greatest, and championships are an important factor, but you're really overstating their value since in a team sport.

I mean you say Kareem is better than Lebron (I can see him or lebron as #2), and most Magic as another top 5 great. So THEY SHOULD have more championships than Lebron, since they played together for 10 years, AND they had at least 1 but as many as 3 ADDITIONAL HALL OF FAMERS on the team every year.

Jesus Christ you old timey "get off my lawn" types are fricking retarded. LeBron's track record in elimination games is incredible.

Individual metrics.

MJ is better than Russell, it's not even close. There goes your rings theory.

Anyone who would take Tony Parker over Chris Paul shouldn't be commenting on basketball. There goes your rings theory again.

Should I go on?

1) I would definitely take Tony Parker over Chrissy "punch a dude in the nuts at WF" Paul.

2) For the record...the NBA has already had an "X-Man." Bird made him his bitch.

Thanks, as if your previous posts in this thread weren't enough, I think it's official... no one needs to listen to any of your basketball related opinions again.

The same reason he shriveled up against Dallas in the Finals. The same reason San Antonio made him their bitch in 2014. At times he has not been able to live up to his own praise.

While I agree that the slam dunk competition has no bearing of how good of a BASKETBALL player someone is, his reluctance to go out and compete in it shows how he was scared of not living up to everyones image of him. 99 times out of 100 he wins the thing every year he tries, but even with those odds he runs away. Scared to look bad, to not be the self-proclaimed King. GOAT does not even consider that. He welcomes anyone who challenges them and then defeats them and lets them know that he is the man. Lebron is not that person.
