Okay guys , here am I , a younger poster . Only 24 . Haven’t had the luxury of watching MJ in his prime . I’ve seen the old MJ , not the GOAT ! Be mindful what I’m about to say .. (NOT COMPARING THEM) But someone explain the thought process that goes into stopping PRIME MJ. With curry, the way teams try to stop him is picking up well beyond the 3 pt line , trapping the PnR , etc ...

Can someone give me an equivalent explanation

Why do you put a space before all your punctuation marks? That's weird AF.

Tell me why you’re so worried about punctuation? If you’d like to be more technical and straight forward we can. I didn’t know I was in English IV at the moment. I just wanted to talk some basketball, nothing more!

Daly’s Pistons devised a set of defensive principles that came to be known as the "Jordan Rules." (That wasn't Daly's term for it. The media picked up on it and it later gained a permanent place in NBA history with the publication of Sam Smith's book of the same title, an inside look at the Bulls' '90-91 season.)

There were three tenets to the Detroit defense: Never give Jordan an easy shot; try to confuse him with varied defensive looks; and be very physical with him. The principles were perfect for the Pistons, who were smart and aggressive (some would say they crossed the line into "dirty") defenders.

"The so-called Jordan Rules might've been the only thing I contributed to basketball," Daly says with a smile. "Everything else I stole."

In Daly's words, here's what the Pistons did: "If Michael was at the point, we forced him left and doubled him. If he was on the left wing, we went immediately to a double team from the top. If he was on the right wing, we went to a slow double team. He could hurt you equally from either wing -- hell, he could hurt you from the hot-dog stand -- but we just wanted to vary the look. And if he was on the box, we doubled with a big guy.

"The other rule was, any time he went by you, you had to nail him. If he was coming off a screen, nail him. We didn't want to be dirty -- I know some people thought we were -- but we had to make contact and be very physical."

Because it’s distracting.

It's hard to take anybody seriously when your first impression is that they are a moron. The punctuation in your OP makes you look like a moron. Thus, people will pay more attention to that than the actual topic.

Answer: You couldn’t stop prime Jordan. He might have a bad night but it wasn’t because of anything the other team did. He could literally do whatever he wanted. If the shots weren’t falling he was going to take your best player out of the game defensively

There are better comparisons for MJ than Curry. What’s your angle here?

Maybe you’re an idiot. Quit trolling! Some of you guys make this board horrible. To the 33% of the guys who knows the game and like to talk sports, you’re appreciated!

Maybe we can focus on the bottom line. Nothing more, nothing less.

It’s no comparison whatsoever, I just wanted to know a coaching mindset or game plan to containing MJ.

For example, You want to trap the PnR with Curry & extend the defense well beyond the 3 pt line.

Like I say I’m not comparing the guys, I know how teams want to defend Curry, but I would like to know how did teams want to defend MJ.

It seems all that fricked up punctuation was intentional.

I’m going to hell for this
But the only shooter I’ve seen in NBA as clutch is Bird

If Bird wanted to start raining 3’s there was nothing you could do. Then if you crowded him he would drive or pass it for easy bucket

Jordan was the guy who you just waited and hoped he didn’t want to tear your heart out.

The thing about Curry is he’s got teammates that scare you same with Bird and Magic. Jordan really at times had to carry the Bulls as Pippen early would disappear, but once the 2nd 3 peat came around Pippen was on it.

Gambling. Make him quit the sport for two years rather than face suspension.

No one could stop him on the court

In the playoffs, the Pistons employed the ABJ defense. Basically they hacked the crap out of him when he went into the paint. But that was back when you could play defense.
