No, this office - the State's Attorney - didn't even know about the case until the rest of the country found out.
The TPD never passed the case to them.
According to the interview with Meggs that was done in the early afternoon today, he hasn't even spoken with the victim yet.

Well if she went to the police first and then the hospital, the medical professionals wouldn't have to contact the police since they would have already been aware. They would just have to turn over the evidence they found.

I'm almost certain hospital staff figured it was already reported, since the officer was waiting right outside the exam room

This is always one of the more disturbing aspects about these kinds of situations, (other than the situation itself, of course).
The levels people will go to in order to rationalize things in the name of fandom is borderline horrifying.

Im not saying it was something i would of done. But, she was still a student there. And what do college students of big universities do on Saturdays? Go tail gate and to the game and hang out with friends. And it actually doesnt say she went to the game. Just was tail gating before the game. And it was months after it happened, when she thought it all went away. And nobody else knew about what happened that night. So what would she tell her friends about not going? And who knows how she felt watching Winston play if she indeed watched / went to the games. Could of been cheering like everyone else but on the inside she was disgusted / sick to her stomach...
All it was, was a picture she tweeted of her and her friend in front of a sorority house on game day.
But my point of that was that the people on the FSU site thinks that because she went to a football game that everything she said was a lie.

Ok ok I gotcha.
Look, I can't even imagine being a rape victim. But if I were I think I'd be horrifically embarrassed...and then use the legal system to frick the criminals world up beyond belief. I'd do my best to legally end their life as they know it. And that would be me being kind. frick, frick if I'd go watch the person play football..

Yep as others have noted some of the mental gymnastics involved with a certain fan base in particular trying to spin every single shred of information that comes out as exculpatory to JW is disturbing. I don't give a damn about what player on Alabama it is, if a similar situation happened I'd hope it wasn't true but I wouldn't be a blind drone either. I wouldn't want that sort of poison on the team if it was true and I'd wait for the evidence before I defaulted to an "Oh this is our star, it can't be true" mindset.
