No they aren't but the numbers really only become relevant when trying to scapegoat your own problems. A more relevant statistic would be over 70% of black children are born to single mothers. That's just fricking sad and no one will hardly even mention it.

Why would I throw away / burn quality clothes and drink shitty beer?
You need to come back to reality. Not everyone is out to get you.
Edit: Another thought. When people call you out for examples or your opinion, don't leave like a bitch.

We lie
We cheat
We steal
We also cater to specific groups of people, then make our kids go to med school or they're bums and disowned.

quote:Well let's see, show me where you bombed asian churches, lynched them and committed other acts of brutality stretching over 200 years? Also, most Asians are migrants, most of which have access to capital here in America or from their native county, to start businesses and gain equity almost instantly. Blacks on the other hand have had a much tougher time over the past few decades to do such. Asians also take equity and cash and fund others that come to America to do the same. You can take a look at social and economic policies that were enacted by the government that were purposely intended to hinder blacks throughout the past several decades.

Do we really want to go there?
Want to talk about Chairman Mao and Communism?
Want to talk about restarting life after the only nuclear attacks in global history?
Want to talk about breaking free of a caste system (an actual system to stop ANY economic mobility)?
You act as if they came over with millions of dollars in tow. These folks started at the bottom too.

Wait a second, didn’t the US govt enact the New Deal and Great Society to HELP BLACKS throughout the past several decades? Biggest expansion of the federal government maybe in history, paid for by taxpayers, basically converting us to socialism to a great degree and you have the audacity to allege that govt enacted policies to HARM THEM? Man GTFO with that contradiction nonsense.

The sacrifices blacks made for civil rights opened up more doors and opportunities for non-black minorities than I did blacks.

quote:As many have stated, and you have agreed with, blacks didn't need the help then and they were better off without it. The purpose of they welfare act was to do exactly what you see today, destroy the black family. It basically pitted black females against black males. In order to get any income, black females couldn't have a black male in their home, wed or unwed. This then led to the belief by black males that they didn't have to be responsible for their children, and black females that having babies out of wedlock was okay because they'd be compensated. Add this policy in with disenfranchisement of foundation of black businesses that actually hired black people and black males found it harder to find employment. I could go on, but you should be able to see from what I posted.

I see two cases:
1) Immigrant who came over either via H-1B or by own ability who had to start from the ground up.
They believe in education, hard work, and central family unit. Went through significant hardships in their home country. Use those hard times as a driving force to prosper. Started this process roughly 50 years ago (1970’s).
2) Significant hardships done to by home country. War fought for their freedom. Civil Rights movement gave them equality.
Most of population does not value education. Uses economic shortfall as excuses to move toward crime. Does nothing to rebuild nuclear family.
Start time for this: 1970’s or the same 50 years ago.
Case 1 is thriving
Case 2 has not changed.

In America more like 100 years, but lots of asians around the world have been dealing with this for centuries.

Maybe today, but definitely not the 1900s. I'd bank 90% of Vietnamese immigrants from 1950s-1980s had little to nothing. Hell, my parents had little to nothing in '85. They lived in housing/assistance for the first 3 years, worked in factories for the first 10.
My dad actually worked for a man who owned a fleet of shrimping boats and when people the area found out this guy hired asians, they burned the guys boat down.

Wanna hear the shite my gf's family hears and deals with on a daily basis owning a cornerstore?
Or what my dad had to go through in the 90s when they were able to afford their own boat?

Probably, but it wasn't some cakewalk for asians like you make it sound. They didn't just come up here and open a nail shop, dry cleaner, or cornerstore all of a sudden. Most of them learned to save up, be frugal with spending, and then went all in on their business
When I was a kid, you think I'd get eggo waffles or doritos or soft drinks? No.
I got my breakfast which was the cheap shitty cereal and milk. Got free lunch at school. Ate rice, vegetables from a garden my parents had, and protein that they either bought or traded vegetables for.
People in low-income families don't save well or spend money frugally. They spend it on useless shite, that is why asians and middle eastern families who own corner stores make bank. They survive off that and bad habits (i.e. smoking, drinking).

Majority of black business owners I've come to meet overcome the same odds that my family and lots of 1950-80s migrants did, they learned how to be frugal and save, invested their earnings into a potential or trade that can make them money, and then they put in the time and effort to excel at their job and take care of their family.
Hell, one of my classmates since elementary school grew up side by side with me and his parents were nearly the same as mine. Lived in the poor area of Algiers, parents were factory workers at Folgers (they commuted every day). They saved up from 1980s til mid 90s, invested into something (they bought a cornerstore in the westbank; my parents bought a boat), and worked there for nearly 20 years. Now they hire someone to work the gas station and into retirement they go. He's a practicing dentist now, his siblings are pharmacists and one is a lawyer.
Some families have more resolve than others. Race has nothing to do with saving and investing.

Asians value work ethic and family probably more than any other group in this country
That's my guess on why they defy the odds.
