One that that SLU has is a growing enrollment, including from NOLA. That creates more support and it also helps the budget tremendously. If enrollment is growing, schools are able to withstand the Jindal budget cuts a lot easier. Plus, the athletic programs at these schools are all financed for he most part on general fund transfers, and the higher the school budget the more you're allowed to transfer; plus, at some schools, they don't transfer as much as they are allowed because it would hurt academics(UNO under Tim Ryan cut the transfers out completely, lost the student fee vote, so went to division 3).
I don't know what Nicholls' enrollment is, but I suspect it's not as robust as SLU's

Need a new AD and this guy Frank Monica. Bebe would be a slam dunk hire for this program!

I paid to go on a road trip with the team. Sat 10 ft from the AD and was around him all weekend and never once did he come over and introduce himself or talk to us. To me thats part of your job. Know the people who support your shitbox program That's pretty poor. Trickles down to the rest of your program.
Not surprising in the least, sadly. I would be ecstatic if the AD left.
I would like to see someone younger come in...or maybe a guy that's been successful at the JUCO or NAIA level.
Scheduling around LSU would be ideal...but then you start having people use the daytime kickoffs in the heat as an excuse to not go. I think I saw online this weekend, a girl post on one of the social media sites that she's a senior at Nicholls and that this weekend was her first ever Colonels football game. Sad. The student body AND ALUMNI need to support athletics much more, and the AD needs to act like he gives 2 shits about that happening.

My wife went their for 4 years and attended 1 game, and only b/c of some sorority crap.
It's only hot for the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season. They need to go play on the road and make money those weeks, especially since LSU most likely is playing at home early in the season against cupcakes.
They need to get better. That's the easiest way to get more in the seats.
They need to quit running the wishbone offense or whatever the hell they been doing where all they do is run the ball and there qb is basically a rb and cant' throw. That's what high schools do, not colleges.

They stopped that when Stubbs came in 2010. He's a pro-style, spread-ish offense. I was fine giving him a few years of poor performance given that the offensive roster when he took over was suited for a triple-option attack. It was going to take time to get the players he needed to run his offense effectively. This was his 5th year at the school so he has "his players" there now. That obviously hasn't worked.

News flash here. Nicholls AD = Puppet. That is why Rob Bernardi is still here. Our sports programs are a joke year in and year out. How does it not start with the AD? Look I know Nicholls struggles on the financial side with their sports that is no big surprise to anyone but something has to change.

Agreed. I've hated Bernardi since I was at Nicholls.

Frank Monica is a Nicholls St. alum, correct?
He was/is successful at St.Charles Catholic and Jesuit HS.
I remember him being on Greg Davis' staff at Tulane in the 90's, and I'm pretty sure he had coached at Tulane in the 80's too.
Is there anyone with any name recognition that would want that job?

I would never have said anything about the AD because I just didn't know enough about him. First impression was not a good one. I'm not surprised hearing these comments

Frank went from jesuit to willow street on Mack browns staff I believe

I thought Monica or Hud Jackson would get the job in 2009/10.
Hugh Freeze was an unknown, but also applied. A fun 'what if' scenario.

I don't really care about name recognition. I want someone driven and motivated...ready to build a program.

Monica or Jackson should have gotten the job. Man that is crazy that Hugh Freeze was a candidate

If you remember, Monica and Jackson were in the final three last time. Stubbs was not one of the finalists. Bernardi, through a conversation with the president who was out of town at the time ignored the committee's recommendations and went with Stubbs. So said he did not want to upset any of each candidate's supporters but in the end he ends up pissing everybody off.
Need someone who is half way local and/or has ties to Nicholls to increase support for the program.

You are spot on with this. Dr. Hulbert completely hand picked Stubbs. Would Monica or Jackson apply again?
