But to root for an out-of-market team that has not made a personnel decision I have agreed with in three years... it's time to ask: Why am I rooting for this team if I don't enjoy their games?
I can understand that. I transferred loyalty to the Devils when it was apparent the Jacobs brothers weren't going to allow the Bruins to win.

It's not even "not trying to win", it's trying to win in a way I think is abhorrent. They are creating a team for the clutch and grab 90s, not realizing the game has changed (for the better).
I won't even get into trading Phaneuf for a bag of magic beans, and letting Squid (Cammillieri) and Lombardi walk for nothing. While signing Kotalik to big money. Not to mention Bouwmeester, who I hate so much it causes my eyes to bleed.
If I some tie to Calgary, it would be something, but I rooted for them because I liked Lanny McDonald, Jim Peplinski, and Gary Roberts and then Joel Otto, Joe Nieuwendyk, and Theo Fleury. Those guys are gone. I have no tie to the team except for laundry and habit.
I've never stopped rooting for a team before in any sport, but I see no reason to keep rooting for the Flames. Their style of play is awful. If they trade Regher as rumored, I'll have no one left but Iggy and Kipper.

For once when I say this may be the Canucks year...I am somewhat serious.
With the losses hitting Chicago, I think Vancouver can break through if they can be mentally stable (asking alot) in the playoffs.

Can't believe the season is underway Re: the Pens. They've upgraded the depth on the blue line, but Malkin is going to need to get back on track. And they've got to hope Staal doesn't miss too much time. I think they'll use last year as motivation and get back to where they belong: the finals.
