Fitting. Close the series with an awful power play.

Can Halak be Roy, Dryden, Sawchuck, Billy Smith, Grant Fuhr in a series again?

Wow!! What a freakin' game. That was an amazing finish. I knew 1 wouldn't be enough to win it. And yes, it was indeed fitting that it ended on another failed PP for the Caps. That was the story of the series. How they managed to blow a 3-1 lead with all of that momentum/talent is beyond me. And as they said tonight on the broadcast, they only lead something like 6 minutes total in all 4 home games. They've got to make some serious changes.

Get rid of Boudreau, he doesn't adapt. Get rid of Green and Flash. They both fricking suck. Semin too.

And this has basically paved a clear road to the SCF in the East for Pittsburgh.

If he had played like that in the Olympics, the Slovaks would have won gold!

The only, and ONLY positive that might come out of this is cheaper tickets and the bandwagon douches jump off. Wow, just wow...why????

I disagree. Halak had a save percentage in the final three games of 97.7%. He saved 131 of 134 shots in three games. That's a shooting gallery. The Caps completely and totally outplayed the Habs, they just got robbed by a guy playing the best three games of his life. You tip your cap to him, but making wholesale changes would be a bad idea.

Maybe think about letting Semin walk, but I'd hate for this to be a mover towards cynical hockey in which you don't try to score and you rely on the refs to not call interference.

The Habs will likely get swept in the next round. Halak just had one of those wierd series when a borderline goalie suddenly becomes great. Hell, Guy Hebert did it once.

Baloo, Boudreau needs to go. They were converted 1 powerplay out of over 30 chances. He didn't adapt at all to the Habs gameplan. Semin couldn't score and Green was a skating retard on ice. Flash couldn't bury plenty of chances. Do what you must to get Volchenkov. Get rid of Green. Hire Hitchcock or Dale Hunter for coach. This team is soft, and they need someone to kick them in the arse. Boudreau is 13-15 as head coach and they've been the higher seed in all 4 series. 1-3 in Game 7's. This team doesn't get motivated.
I could go on and on.

This is the type of attitude that will have them getting bounced out again next year. Ovie even said himself (sarcastically) after Game 6 that it seems like they have some out of the world goalie performance every year in the playoffs (New York, Philadelphia, now Montreal). The simple fact is that they don't adjust to playoff hockey well. Halak played great, but you can't reduce the whole thing to him; not in light of Washington's past 7 game series. This is a consistent pattern with them in the playoffs. You can chalk up one or two games to the goaltender, but not a whole series. Halak can be scored on (as the Caps showed early in the series); this is a problem with the Caps moreso than Halak being the second coming of Patrick Roy. And if Halak is that good, then why predict a sweep in the next round? He just so happened to get red hot against the Caps, but will revert back to normal status magically in the next series? I think not. They need to either look at a coaching change or make a few major player changes (such as Semin and Green) IMO, but it's fine with me if they make no major changes b/c that'll help the Pens' cause.

If Iafrate is on that PP they score a ton. They need a guy on the point who strikes fear into the D. I just dont see that for the Caps, but then again I am not a Caps fan at all. I could see Halak staying hot like JS Giguere Hextall the Devils Goalie in 80's (Sean Last name escapes me)and Roy carrying his team to SCF or the East Finals.

There is one of every seed remaining. Pretty cool if you think about it:

1. Sharks
2. Blackhawks
3. Canucks
4. Penguins
5. Red Wings
6. Bruins
7. Flyers
8. Canadiens
