Don always seemed fair to the Leafs but there was a level of Fraseresque Arrogance as well...

What's odd about the Sharks and Caps series is that the top seeds absolutely dominated those games at home, yet they needed OT to even scrape out one win at home. The Habs' ridiculous goaltending seems to have come back to earth, or maybe it was just one period, but the Avs have continued to get amazing work in net. You can ride a hot goalie a long way, even over a superior team that is outplaying you.

Baloo its interesting you should point out the goaltending in "your" series...I was saying to my father-in-law last night at the end of period 1, if Washington scores here, against the run of play (obviously Montreal was knocking the shite out of your caps in terms of chances) thi will get ugly with 2 or three goals to follow, momentum is a hard thing to fight against in sports and politics...I look for Montreal to win tommorow in ot and then anything can happen, to his credit Ovie scored on his first shot of the game in period 2, but he is floating make no mistake about that I think he is pissed at Boudreau for some reason....

Montreal "won" one period in terms of flow of play this entire series. And it came in period 1 of a game they lost by four goals.

While the Caps first goal was a shorty, they had already started to take the flow of play in period 2. The Caps have absolutely dominated possession in every game, yet don't have a lot to show for it. Game Two was the worst, as the Habs scored on their first two shots (which took over half a period to get).

I've given up on picking the series at it sort of defies logic. By Corsi, the best stat for looking at who controlled the game, the Caps have absolutely dominated this series, yet are only up 2-1 with an OT game being the difference.

Au revoir, les Habitants.
For a Bruins fan, nothing could be better than a B's win and a Habs loss!

You know, the Avalanche could hardly even get the puck past the neutral zone, let alone generate many decent shots.
The sharks got every last loose puck, and passed the puck like it was on a rope.

Thats what makes that loss so devastating to the Sharks, they really were the best team, the really did dominate play in every facet (save goaltending).

I really have to wonder if Anderson is SO in their heads that this thing is done.

I guess we find out tonight.

Go AVS !!

I think Anderson can steal this series because the Sharks have lost while outplaying the Avs by a large margin. They have to be frustrated, which means they are not likely to play as well as they start to think about the choker tag. And once the gap in play decreases, the less the Avs need Anderson to play like Patrick Roy in 1986.

I really think the Sharks HAVE to win the next two to win this series. If they are down 3-2 headed to Denver....

The Sharks aspire to be the Buffalo Bills of Hockey, only they haven't got the heart to do it...I am beyond caring what happens to them...

I'm hoping the Pens come out with the same intensity as last game. The temptation to coast could be there since they regained home ice. They need to go ahead and take care of business tonight.

I'm really interested to see how the Sharks respond to that last game. They need something good to happen early. Colorado needs to put as much pressure on Nabokov as possible; he got somewhat of a free pass last game. They can't expect to win with that kind of shot disparity again.

I think NJ-Flyers will be another toss up; I expect the Devils to win out of sheer desperation but am hoping the Flyers can pull it out. Chicago/Nashville is another toss up. If Hornqvist can't go, I'm not sure they have enough offense to win. And Detroit/Phoenix is probably the most interesting game. I'm wondering how long they'll stick with Howard; especially if they fall behind early. I expect Detroit to come out on fire and even things up, but Phoenix has shown that they won't go down easily.

Pens need to put this series to bed ASAP I expect they will face the Caps before too long and will require the rest...I cant see the sharks being too pleased at the result of last game but I still question their intensity, I think with a good chunk of their line up winning an Olympic Gold in Vancouver they are maybe a wee bit self satisfied....I am presently pissed off at Lou Lamerellojello for some comments made about that jackass kid who damned near killed the QMJHL with an elbow to his head that left him convulsing on the ice....didnt Phoenix just lose an important part of their offence? Good to have you weigh in D.

The Habs dominated game 1 and the first 2 periods of game 2 and the first period of game 3. The Caps have finally woken up and Varlamov gave the team a much needed shot in the arm. They'll take out Montreal in 5. That comeback was monumental in the outcome of the series. Hell, Ovie hasn't even been dominant yet. Green has been a no show and Sem hasn't done ANYTHING. Sem is going to score at least 2 in Game 4, he is starting to heat up.

Vancouver..ha geez Luongo, no idea what happens there.
And my upset special is Nashville taking out Chicago in the first round.

more like the braves of hockey. Buffalo to their credit made 4 superbowls. They weren't really losing to inferior teams outside of the Giants SB.

and the fricking Sabres Bruins series is making me sick.

All I know is that whoever wins this series is out in 4 games next round...neither can score and goaltending spotty at best....

Yeah the Sabres-Bruins series is pathetic. Savard might come back for the Bruins which might help them out a little, but man that is some ugly but physical hockey.
