Lightning and Sabres tied 7-7. Lightning 16 penalties, Sabres 11 penalties, 5 fighting penalties on each team. Sabres were up 4-1 then the Lighning went up 6-4 and 7-5 Sabres tie the game with just under five minutes left in the 3rd. Sabres take the lead 8-7 with a minute left.

What an awful, awful call and terrible refs
Avs have been screwed with just completely one-sided reffing in two recent losses - this one and the Minnesota loss
It wasn't just the Mackinnnon call - the whole game was awful
Give him 2 whatever, but 5 and game misconduct? Joke

NHL has rescinded the major penalty called on MacKinnon essentially confirming it should've been a minor, if anything.
A big deal, because the physical infraction majors carry an automatic one game suspension (that increases per occurrence) if two major infractions with a game misconduct occur within a 41-game period. Happened to Mikko earlier this year.
I can't imagine the controversy that would've come up had it happened again in a playoff series (though unlikely given MacKinnon's track record being very clean) and he sits a game because of what happened the other night.
We don't get to say this often, but good on League Operations/Player Safety for getting it right.

Detroit has collapsed, Boston is shaky, and here comes Columbus only 1 point back
Seattle is crashing while San Jose is moving up. However, everybody in the Pacific and wild card race other than Utah is complete dogshit and letting Nashville and Winnipeg catch up to the pack. Anybody's guess who WC2 will be in the West.
Pacific is embarrassing and emphasizes how broken this playoff seeding is.

Not surprising - what a dirty hit
Gudas suspended 5 games which I think was max per the ruling. IMO he should get more. But then again, Todd Bertuzzi only got 13 for ending Steve Moore's career...
