Avs played pretty well against Winnipeg last night, Hellebuyck is just amazing. Was an unlucky OT loss.

Strong rumor that Moose is being traded to Carolina receiving Nekas and some other assets in return. I’m bummed if true. The Avs have traditionally held on to most HOF level players .

I’m not sure what they’re getting back from Carolina but it better be absolutely massive - Mikko is a top 10 player and they’re going to need to replace 40+ goals and 90+ points a year

Was really hoping the compensation for Mikko included some solid goaltending. Guess not. Hate losing Moose.

Can’t afford to pay Makar, McKinnon & Rant. Uncertainty about Milo remaining in Colorado has been swirling since last season.
Avs have 100% been trying to understand the possibility of they can resign Mikko for a dollar value that doesn’t compromise the rest of the roster. Ultimately this trade shows they believe they couldn’t do that. So they traded him while they could get something instead of nothing.

We are good on that front with Blackwood and Wedgewood (the latter giving Nabokov time to develop through next year). Blackwood has been fantastic.
It’s hard to say that the Avs got better with this trade, but they did address one of the biggest needs on the team since Mittelstadt being bad of late - 2C in Necas.
Hopefully it’s also a sign that Nichushkin is closer than thought earlier this week.
Just fricking sucks to see Moose go. I legitimately felt that punch in my gut.

Also think paying Landeskog big dollars to be a 3rd line guy doesn’t make a lot of sense. And of course Nichushkin is risky AF and Mittlestadt is a plus minus mess who can’t seem to step up to the role. Nikas on top line with his speed and hands will be deadly and Drury should be 3C.

Absolutely. 5M of cap space and a whole lot of winger talent.
I think Drury likely winds up your 2C with Mittelstadt on the struggle bus. Dude is a great face off guy. Probably our PK1 C too.
Plenty of Bednar-like combos and line changes to come. Necas can also play C, Bednar is gonna have lots of fun with his top 6-9 forwards.

Drury really isn’t a 2c, he just doesn’t have the juice . I see him as the 3C. Even 4c.He’s good defensively though and tough. And yeah, they definitely aren’t done. I hope the ghost of Pierre LaCroix can give us an assist from on high.
