Redzone combined with shitty match ups in prime time are big reason why
Also, you don't just add up percentages to show a total

Just amended original post, just heard on the Radio that Red Zone was down 18% too.

I've been an NFL fan all my life but I'm just finding the NFL hard to watch now. ITs nothing but penalties and commercials.

Tons of folks gave up cable tv in the past year

The NFL is a JOKE.... FACT....

Yes, but most on here won't admit to that. It drives CFB fans nuts that the NFL is bigger.
I've never understood this but it does exist.
They can't stand it.

My question is... The NFL can clearly see that the product is bad with all the penalties and absurd rules like the catch, etc.
So why the hell don't they just dial back on the PI and Holding calls. They don't cause head injuries and would make the game flow better.

As much as I love watching the NFL, they need to cool it with the penalties. Ruins the flow. But I'm not really sure how to address it. You can't just tell the refs to ignore a penalty.

Thursday Night: No Peyton Manning. Peyton vs. Cam in SB50 rematch would have put up epic numbers.
Sunday Night: No Tom Brady. No Gronk. That audience won't break records.
MNF: Nobody's going to stay up east of California to watch a 3rd place team play a 4th place team. Game 1 had big name teams but only one marquee player/fantasy starter. Well, maybe Reed started for you too but nobody tuned in to watch him.
CBS: Their marquee game was Bengals/Jets. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Fox: Their worst game was better than CBS's best game, with the possible exception of Falcons/Bucs. No shite they got the best numbers.
RedZone: The most suspenseful games were in the late spot. Chiefs/Chargers was a snoozer until the Chiefs came back. About the only truly suspenseful early game was Raiders/Saints.

I never, ever thought I'd say this, but I'm beginning to lose some of my enthusiasm for the NFL.
I'll admit it, I'm a traditionalist. I'm tired of all these little rule changes;
Balls downed in the endzone should come out to the 20.
Extra point attempts should be from the 2, regardless of what you attempt (I'm ok with going for 2).
Defenders, especially safeties, should be allowed to drill the receiver, as long as he's not there early.
First score should win OT.
If a receiver "catches" the ball, and gets 2 ft down, it should be a catch, without having to create some convoluted set of "if this, but not that" rules.
What we're seeing now is not what I grew up watching.

The product is significantly worse. The fricking penalties are ridiculous.

Liberalism is killing everything, including the NFL.

Roger Goodell isn't a liberal. He's the son of a former Republican senator and his wife used to work for Fox News. Plus most of the NFL owners are strongly Republican.

All of the bullshite is catching up.
I know a lot of older fans (fans from the 70s and 80s) are turned off by the current product.

This needs to be said again. Wish I had more than one up vote to give you.
