If you owned a restaurant would you want your waiters and waitresses lecturing the customers with their views on abortion before they took their order? No, you would "shut them up
While I do get your point, I'm not sure the two things are completely comparable. The NFL already lectures us with its views. By playing the anthem before the game, they are expressing the view that "We are Pro America". Kap and followers eventually responded by saying "I personally am not because of x,y,z..."
Your statement would be more comparable if the restaraunts wanted to express the view that they are Pro abortion, and the waiters disagreed.

They are absolutely comparable. When you are checking out at WalMart, does the cashier tell you to be sure to vote for Hillary Clinton? Does your FedEx delivery guy drop off packages wearing a red Make America Great Again hat? Of course not. And if they did they'd immediately be fired. Because you don't have a right to make a political protest while in uniform at your job. Period.
It would be the height of stupidity for any business to alienate half of their customer base due to politics. Which is why ESPN is burning right now. As Michael Jordan said years ago "Republicans buy sneakers too"

The first political statement is the playing of the national anthem. That's my point, though.

No it isn't. The players made it political. They are now protesting the President's opinion of a prior protest. Think about that for a second.

Monday night’s match-up between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears was the least watched NFL game this season, down 17% from last week and reaching a regular season low for the league and ESPN
That's easily explainable because the finals of Cupcake Wars- Columbus Day Edition was airing at the same time. There's no problem.

When did I say anything about the 1st amendment, dipshit? I just stated my opinion on it.
Good move putting words in my mouth to support your point.

And lulz on anyone comparing this to a normal job situation. They impose a "stand or find another job" policy, and you get a Brady, Rodgers, Beckham, Von Miller deciding to sit, watch how fast that gets forgotten.

Ok, so i was right. A very, very small number. And it was being forgotten about. But then...Trump gonna Trump.

Just saw this. You really are angry about something I never said.
Trump's America.

Playing the national anthem is a political statement. Generally, it's not a big deal because either everyone loves it, or they think nothing of it.
The players just brought attention to some thing that was already there. And you're right about that. But id probably be pissed to if someone who doesn't know me called me a SOB

And when you state your opinion using an incorrect interpretation of something as straight forward as the 1st amendment, you're going to get called out for it.
But as you said "Trump's America" thank God he was elected or I would have never been able to point out on an anonymous internet message board that you don't understand the first amendment in the bill of rights of the country you live in

The playing of our national anthem is not a political statement no matter how many times you say it
Kneeling while you're on the job in uniform during the national anthem is a political statement

We will have to agree to disagree here.

NB4 Trump cries about players staying in locker room.

I've posted very little in these threads, but this is false. I watched the Raiders-Titans big ticket opener, and the crew (in the 2nd qtr, with no natural segue whatsoever) went to footage & commentary of Lynch kneeling.
It was completely stupid and the network was absolutely pushing it.

Holy hell, my statement had absolutely nothing to do with the 1st amendment. I never said their 1st amendment right was being violated, I never said the NFL was attacking the 1st ammendment. My point was that my personal preference in situations like that would be a dialogue, I don't agree with what you're doing, but let's talk it out, discusses why we feel this isn't how we want our team and the league represented, and let's discuss a solution and/or alternative. Making something mandatory, really does nothing but alienate.
Google "strawman". I think the two of you will be good friends.

You have a dress code at work?
Assignments you have to complete?
Time you have to be there?
You see, when you have a job, you do what your employer says or you find a different job.

First off, this would be a policy after the fact. And like I previously stated, stop trying to compare the NFL with any normal job.

Shouldn't we all be? And if you're not pro-America why would you care if it changed and why would you want to stay?

They would get fined and suspended if it was against the rules, just like Chris Jackson did when he pulled this stunt 20 years ago with the Nuggets
