And signed a one year this last year. Why would he after 3 7-9 seasons finally see we have a great team and leave after one great year?

Yeah would be kind of a hassle to move at 40 years old with his gaggle of kids to someplace like Denver.
He’s got a great line and a great running game to help him age gracefully at this point. Unless there was some rift with Payton, it would seem silly to leave the system that will help him break every statistical record. Also helps that he finally has at least a decent defense.
Unless it was just some kind of stupid difference in compensation.

It was the medical team IIRC. Not to start a Bama/LSU argument, but I don't believe it was his decision. If they had said sign him he probably wins a Super Bowl in Miami. Crazy.
