I don’t think it’s a conspiracy. I’ve been to Canton and absolutely loved the experience. I’d go back and visit for an induction ceremony.

Drew Brees played at Purdue & Larry Fitzgerald played at Pitt.
Not much of a drive for fans of those schools, especially Pittsburgh.

Warner had a Steve Young like career. Shorter but brilliant.
Fun Fact: Until Tom Brady came along Warner had 3 of the top 4 passing days in Super Bowl history. And he never left the field with his team trailing after his last possession. And he did it with two historically bad (at the time) franchises in the Rams and the Cardinals.

I grew up there. Not much to do in Canton, so pretty much everything revolves around this weekend - parades, fashion shows, luncheons, music festivals, rib cook-offs.
You have friends, families and former teammates at the ceremony, plus the rabid fans that travel to see their "guy". But you also have people from the area that go just for the "event" even though they don't really have a particular player or team that they follow. There are also lots of people from the Chamber of Commerce, local industry sponsors, civic volunteers, etc. It adds up.
