Next year if the Warriors have to choose, who do they keep KD or Steph?

The league previously projected the 2017-18 cap to hit $107 million but lowered that number to $102 million Thursday and lowered the luxury tax line projection from $127 million to $122 million.
This will affect teams' planning for 2017 free agency -- specifically the Warriors. Kevin Durant is signing a contract Thursday that will allow him to re-enter the market as a free agent next summer. Because the Warriors will not have his full rights at that time, they will have to create $33.5 million in cap space if Durant wants a new max contract.
Steph has been in the system longer, probably willing to take a more team friendly deal than KD. KD is probably the better player and can do more both offensively and defensively. They've both had some injury issues and KD is younger I believe.

some people will likely take exception to both parts of this.

Steph has been playing on a team friendly deal. I'd think he's ready to get paid.

KD defended his arse off in the playoffs, but i'd like to see his defensive ratings during the regular season. steph's were sneaky impressive.
and steph is a better shooter, dribbler, and passer than KD. better with the ball in a pick and roll (pop) in that system too.

why would they need to create space? His 27.5 million coming off the books and the 10+ mill raise she be enough. Plus curry Iggy and livingstons contracts all expire. That's another 30 mill right there.
