Was the kid named Adam James? Was his Dad Craig James? Were they involved?
HELLO Mcfly, HELLO!!!!!
This story is such fricking horseshite. If it had any merit to it....Mahaffey would not have been hired by U High. He is lucky he got run outa town at VC, he wouldnt have gotten this oppurtunity if he was still there.
Once again, these allegations from VC are total Bull shite.

Coach Martin is awesome. Good for U-High.

why so angry? are you his dad or something?
If the situation at VC was what you say it was then why didn't he force them to fire him and then sue the Diocese of Lafayette for wrongful termination? why did he voluntarily leave with such serious allegations hanging over him? If it was merely politics that forced him out, then why did he leave the state for a year?
and for the record, he voluntarily left VC mid year so that he would not be fired and his employment record would not list the cause for termination. That is how he was able to get hired at Bastrop after being gone for a year and he was able to rebuild his reputation in Louisiana. Had he been fired from VC and the cause put into his employment history he would be out of coaching in Louisiana for good. As it stands all he has on hs record is that he voluntarily resigned.
after the priest molestation scandals the local Catholic Diocese have very strict guidelines and very low tolerance for any physical impropriety between employees and students. I can guarantee you he will never work in a Catholic School in Louisiana ever again. So he made some mistakes, he went away to get his act together and he rebuilt his reputation well enough to get a good job, so good for him. I am not saying he is a bad guy, I am saying in 2005 he was a weird dude that made some truly stupid decisions and he paid the price for them by losing his job.

No relation to the guy. But I have followed that situation somewhat.
Just think its a crock of shite and makes no sense. If the guy did something wrong....he would not be coaching anymore. Hed be selling insurance or some shite.
That's the bottom line for me.

Supahtiger, you really don't know what you're talking about.
May want to get some of your facts checked. And because someone leaves the state doesn't mean anything. Ever think pay and experience could be a good reason? Not to mention the team he went to had something like 21 seniors get football scholarships. Not a bad program to have on your resume?
As for leaving mid year, who wouldn't want to leave a bad situation mid year, and by a bad situation, I do not mean your allegations, but the fact that the administration and existing, bitter coaching staff was probably not the best working environment for someone.

Dont be naive, it is not what you know, it is what you are willing to go public and prove that really counts. He did a smart thing by getting ahead of the VC situation, he resigned, went away, straightened up and resumed a bright career. Good for him.
my HS coach was a full blown alcoholic that would show up at practice drunk and was having an affair with another teacher that everyone knew about. He was able to retire 10 YEARS after I graduated with a horrific career won/loss record, a terrible reputation as a coach and a teacher, 30+ years in the system, his full benefits and some great stories for parties. He was subsequently called back into teaching/administration by his cronies/frat brothers in three different local school boards not once, not twice but four times and he has now has a state championship ring (as an asst coach) from one of those stints.
we could start a MSB thread and tell a-hole/drunk/corrupt coaches stories (private and public) for easily 20+ pages.

Chad is a good football coach, he will do a good job at U-High. People and coaches make mistakes all the time. The sad part is people change and do right, but their reputations seem to stick with them no matter what. So he made a mistake at VC, if it was that bad he would not be coaching. I thought we were a country of second chances. Chad will win at U-High and they will be glad they made that hire.

ironic but the school, the community and the kids were happy to have him after the Charlie Cryer resume scandal in 2004.

We'll see....but he will definitly be in the running when Big Dale Weiner calls it quits at CHS.
If Neil Weiner doesnt take it....my money would be on Mahaffey getting it.

considering the guy that called the plays for that Central team that hung 50 on that Catholic defense is the guy that got Martin to be his DC and associate head coach.
If by "calling the plays" you mean wearing a hat backwards with play sheet arm bands on both arms while signaling in whatever play Sid Edwards tells him, then yes.

No, I mean calling plays, just like he did at Bastrop when Mackey and Randle were there. You know, the reason he was invited to speak at LSU and Alabama football camps. I realize you just want to shite on everything, but it's not always warranted.
On a side note, why is this anchored?
Posted on 1/30/10 at 9:55 am to lsu711
You think Sid calls the plays? You sure don't know a whole lot do you. Sid hasn't called a play prolly since he began coaching. I've heard he doesn't even go to practice half the time. I can assure you that Mahaffey called every play this season.
