quote:

When the New England Patriots drafted Marshall kicker Justin Rohrwasser, there was a controversy over one of his tattoos and speculation it meant he supported a far-right militia group, the Three Percenters.

When he was asked to explain his tattoo, he said he thought it was for military support and he will cover it.

Whether it’s a mistake or something else, Rohrwasser might want to use one of his first NFL checks to cover it if he wants the controversy to fade.

Of course, some of the usual suspects have chimed in

quote:

Jemele Hill

Patriots kicker is a white supremacist. My bad, he tends to like white supremacist things. Carry on, nothing to see here.

quote:

Jemele Hill

For those scoring at home, a white supremacist found a job in the NFL, but Colin Kaepernick isn’t welcome.

quote:

Bomani Jones

were there followup questions or was this really enough?

important followup question: what does "covered" mean? covered by new tattoos? just covered by an armband on the field but out the rest of the time?

quote:

Bomani Jones

when did you learn the tattoos meant something else? why didn't you cover them then?

why did you once previously say your tattoos were random, when now you say you thought you were supporting the military?

how did you think that one symbol represented the military?

quote:

Albert Breer

So Bill Belichick got asked three questions on his dog but none on the kicker tattoo story? That's interesting.

quote:

Bakari Sellers

Can someone explain to me the football reason, if one exists, the Patriots don’t sign Cam or Jameis?

lol at Bomani and Hill, just horrible journalists.

Some of the worst in their field, who survive by creating fake bogey men, and by the color of their skin.

Race is all Jemele has. She's gotta work hard to keep that gravy train going.

I just looked up the Three Percenters on Wikipedia, and it doesn’t say anything about them being a White supremacist group.

They are a pro-small government group that believes if the government gets too intrusive it’s the right of the people to take up arms against it.

The Southern Poverty Law Center categorizes the Three Percenters as an "anti-government" group. And the SPLC loves claiming things are racist, so if they only describe it as an “anti-government group”, then you know there isn’t any evidence of racism.

How many black NFL players have tattoos that reference some sort of street gang? I wonder what Jemele and Bomani's reaction would be if people began ordering them to cover those up.

They're a far right group with ties to terrorist plots. Even if they're not a white supremacist group they're not good people

Maybe, I don’t know... but that’s not what Jemele and Bomani are arguing.
