Y’all can try and put lipstick on this pig all you want. But In the public eye, this looks bad for the saints

Why would a professional sports team help out the catholic church? Are they a team sponsor or something?
because I’m willing to bet 80% of Saints fans are Catholic

The Bensons are a Catholic family who own a private enterprise.

They have every right to lend their money/resources to their local archdiocese.

Yeah that's not really how the NFL works... I mean yes it's a private business, but it's under/controlled by NFL rules.

Yea but the average person isn’t very bright and half the public is worse off than them- so that standard isn’t great.

Ultimately, all that will matter is if they said lie. Which would be shocking to put in writing. If they advised own it, involve authorities and do your best to do right going forward it’s nothing

don’t understand why a professional sports franchise and a Christian Church are in bed together ? Why are these two organizations connected at all ?

Team leaders are involved with the church and both are leaders in this community. Not shocking if they have some discussions.

That the church reached out to others instead of closing ranks might be a good sign

The Church is in serious need of reform. Priests and bishops are held to a higher standard than the laity and thus any violation of their vows must be treated harshly. When you take on the role of a priest, you are supposed to give your entire life to God. That means no sexual contact with anyone. Sexually abusing children goes beyond sexual contact and into the realm of criminality. Not only that...but you are openly defying the commands of the Apostles laid down in the Didache (circa A.D. 70) when that document says:

“You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not practice witchcraft, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill one that has been born.”

Divine law and human law calls for you to be defrocked and turned into the authorities for criminal charges. I would strongly encourage my bishops to follow that guidance and would demand their resignations if they refused.

The New Orleans Saints are going to court to keep the public from seeing hundreds of emails that allegedly show team executives doing public relations damage control for the area’s Roman Catholic archdiocese to help it contain the fallout from a burgeoning sexual abuse crisis.

Attorneys for about two dozen men suing the church say in court filings that the 276 documents they obtained through discovery show that the NFL team, whose owner is devoutly Catholic, aided the Archdiocese of New Orleans in its “pattern and practice of concealing its crimes.”

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh considering how liberal discovery normally is, the only arguments I conceive the Saints remotely have against this disclosure are maybe lack of relevance or unreasonably cumulative but the plaintiffs will probably counter the documents likely reveal events of misconduct yet undiscovered and concealed to this point

quote:

Saints attorneys, in court papers, disputed any suggestion that the team helped the church cover up crimes, calling such claims “outrageous.” They further said that the emails, exchanged in 2018 and 2019, were intended to be private and should not be “fodder for the public.” The archdiocese is also fighting the release of the emails.

Unless these emails are protected by some sort of legally-recognized privilege or mental impression/work product, that argument ain't gonna fly, sorry nevertheless

If this is a big nothing burger then release the damn emails! Otherwise it looks very suspicious.

And by the way
If the head of a organizations public relations team thought this was a good idea to even get involved with this shite show...what’s that say for him?
