Where is Joel Meyers? The Pelicans play by play announcer is a mainstay host on NBA radio and one of the best PBP in the entire league.

I considered Meyers but in the end left him off cause he isn't affiliated with a local entity

Re: Katengel - he's a little too goofy for me. He thinks he's funny but he's not and honestly he doesn't know much about sports. He fumbles over names and doesn't really know much past the general surface info & news that most fans know.

He's just very monotone and doesn't seem to amp up the energy when big things happen during the game.

AD Game Winner

No excitement

He's also been used by TNT during the NBA playoffs in the past.

1. Jim hender SON - losing his fast ball as every season goes by but still #1 by default

2. Ken Trahan - the man has done it all and seen it all. Also runs the Saints HOF

3. Nick Underhill - In 3 short years, has become the best BEAT writer regardless of sport

4. Jen Hale - the FACE that runs the place. NBA, NFL she got this

5. Ed Daniels - can't believe you left him off the list. Your better than that Lester

6. Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert - the People's champ. Can get away asking the real questions (i.e. See Les Miles)

7. Juan Kincaid - Sean fezandes boss

8. Sean Kelly - best play by play guy in the state and eventual successor to Henderson

9. Mike Detillier - The state's resident football expert

10. Megan Kluth - Not necessarily sports but the Kluthfairy is a 6 to 12 kind of girl who won't be long for the NOLA market once she starts getting the right kind of exposure. Already "scored" an exclusive with Sean Payton which shows you the power

Damn I can't believe I forgot Sean Kelly. He's good. I was pulling for him to get jim Hawthornes job

Ed Daniels I've met in person. He's creepy & kind of loopy as if he takes medication

Kincaid was comsidered. He's solid but boring to me, but is a consummate professional for sure

I find Joel Meyers to be boring, to be honest. And it's not Pelicans hate.. I thought the same when he did Texans games back in like 2012.

What makes him one of the best PBP guys

It's not just me. r/NBA loves the guy too. He's not a massive homer. He's a good student of the game and breaks down where things went right/wrong at a deeper level than most. I don't particularly care for a hype man. Give me something that's gonna let me learn from the game I'm watching and to look for in following games.

ETA: The first guy on the list is a play by play guy. You have bloggers. I just would have included him in the list. Wesley has also grown leaps and bounds as well. I really like the duo now. They seem to genuinely like each other after a very rough start.

Good thread.

8. Kaare Johnson- while choosing to mix politics and sports down the dial at 1280, Kaare really excels when talking sports. His steel trap memory is able to recite things that happened in the local landscape dating back to the 70's. Ideally Kaare should be on the big 870, covering sports and ticking off callers with his shock jock style.

I love to hate listen to Kaare.

Henderson is employed by WWL & Fox 8. Joel is employed by a regional network which is why I left him off
