If I knew he was my position coach and I had multiple offers, this could affect where I went.
Thats why I think its ok to fire him.

If the Bible said that men are naturally better at math than women, that's still sexist. Being in the bible doesn't make it not sexist.

The 54-year-old Brown spent the four years prior to his return to coaching serving as the Nebraska State Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes

I seriously doubt this will affect or offend in any prospective recruits. I'd say most prospects/families agree fully with these comments.

For those defending Brown, would you equally defend a Muslim coach who publicly said "Death to the American infidels, and all who do not bow before Allah will burn?" Do you think that guy should not get fired?

Good to know that we can still count on homophic middle american bumpkins to hand down their ridiculously close-minded set of view to their kids

Brown is a great recruiter, I want him fired for selfish reasons

People only defend free speech they agree with.

This is a huge personal clash for me. I am one hundred percent for vocalizing your opinions. People shouldn't be afraid to say what they think, but they also need to live with the repercussions. I also believe in the arena of public discourse, sometimes mulligans are in order. I couldn't imagine everything I say being scrutinized with a fine tooth comb.
That being said, I am completely 100% pro gay rights. I completely disagree with everything he says and his stances.

What? No "equality" would be a gay coach saying that normal marriage is wrong and then getting fired.

Just curious...what special treatment are gays asking for that straights don't get when they marry? Or is he talking about something else?
I honestly have no idea what issues they are fighting for, but frankly I don't give a frick if they get the same rights as married, straight couples. What impact does it have on my life?

Some ask for things like hate crime legislation and the such. Then again, some people think we never landed on the moon.

this seems like a bad case of
sure, this guy is 100% in his rights to say this. On the flip side, Pelini is 100% within his rights to fire his arse for it. Bitch about both or neither.

If an atheist coach said publicly "There is no god, and those who believe in god are sadly misguided," I'd expect him to be fired and with good cause; saying something like that can hurt recruiting and enrollment.

Well I guess that is one gay stance I am against. Although I think the whole notion of a hate crime is a fricking joke in the first place.
