NCAA Wrestling Tournament

Has anyone been watching yet? The best round in my opinion(the semis) are tonight on ESPN at 7:00pm.
There has been some pretty big upsets already with Alex Marinelli of Iowa losing to Lewis from Virginia Tech after beating 2 time Champ from Penn Sate Joseph last week in the Big 10 Championships.
A lot of southern teams( V-Tech, NC State are making strides and the announcers were even talking about the state of Georgia High School wrestling improving immensely.
Top 10 as of today.
1 Penn State 80.0
2 Ohio State 66.5
3 Oklahoma State 56.0
4 Iowa 43.5
5 Michigan 40.0
6 Missouri 37.0
7 Minnesota 32.0
8 Rutgers 29.5
9 NC State 29.0
10 Cornell 26.5
10 Nebraska 26.5
10 Virginia Tech 26.5

Watched a couple matches earlier. Love that espn is giving the coverage that it has been in recent years. But a lot of it probably has to do with CBS owning the broadcast rights to march madness.

The best thing to happen to the NCAA wrestling tournament was getting that Friday night primetime slot. It's increased the exposure dramatically. I've watched the Friday night matches the last 2 years.

Iowa dominates the crowd game followed by Penn State.
No one has an answer but why the heck does wrestling always have to be on the biggest sports weekend of the year. The worst way to grow wrestling is flo wrestling.
The best way is to have someone flip through channel and get exposure.

I agree with everything there. I wish they would just show it on espn more. They have time in their lineup for more live sports. Flo is fine but that isn’t appealing to the masses.

You have to pay for flo so no one who has never watched wrestling is going to pay for it.
Espn does a great production minus a few things and hope they upgrade and put it on espn more often

The extended coverage plus the fact that American wrestling is experiencing probably its best product ever is tremendously helping the sport - especially participation numbers in LA.
I think a portion of it has to do with the popularity of MMA and the fact that wrestling is probably the best base discipline for the sport.
