The one team that I see making it far as a "middle seed" is SMU. Larry Brown can flat out coach, IMO best alive right now. They have scoring and older group of guys. They have played in big arenas and big games.

That's a good call. I think you overrate Brown a tad, but he's still a great coach. And I think the Ponies biggest issue is playing away from Moody.

And just to talk about Ohio State, there is no way they can make any noise in the tournament. We have ZERO front line play.

I know guards are huge in the tournament, but they have no post presence what so ever.

Which is why I like NC State as long as Gottfried doesn't get in the way. Lacey, Turner, Cat Barber all have the ability to go for 20 on any given night. Not much depth behind them though

Their biggest issue is youth in the front court. Washington and Anya are both Soph and have struggled with consistency while Abu is just a freshman.

I'm not liking them at all. They didn't impress me earlier this season, and that was before Pitino started suspending their players. They have absolutely zero bench too.

Pitino pretty much came out and called his team a bunch of head cases. He is allowing Chris Jones back for this weekend though.

And I'd have to say Butler or Northern Iowa for my dark horses.

Based on brackets with Notre Dame as a 3 seed, I pick ND.

Utah is certainly a smart 4 seed choice, because they have a dominant big man.

we have a couple of weeks to go. Let's see who falters and who wins their conference. And remember, the two big boys SEC and Big Ten play champ game on the day they reveal the seeds, so winning the SEC or Big ten is not going to be worth all that much to the team that upsets U of K or Wisconsin. The committee is not going to redo the whole S curve if U of K falters. They never do.

One loss after a 4 day tournament changes the seed of a previously undefeated (hypothetical) team?

And one win doesn't mean much to the winner either. They have two brackets made before the final of the B1G game and insert depending on the winner. It's not that hard.

GTFO.

Maybe, maybe not. If they don't, they'll still get an at-large bid.

They are a good team. Efficient on offense and defense and are Top 30 nationally in points/possession.

Seth Tuttle is quietly one of the biggest mismatches in the country.

I know they're good but Wichita is a better tourney pick. As they can play multiple styles

I see what you're saying. I suppose my post didn't exactly answer the question. Didn't submit my post with the intention of calling UNI a Final Four team. I was just throwing UNI out as a team that could make some teams very unhappy.

They are efficient on both ends of the floor with a load of experience and one of the better players in the country.

Both Northern Iowa and Wichita State are ranked in the Top 15 and NIU is projected with a 4 seed right now in Lunardi's bracketology. Even if they lose their conference tournament the Missouri Valley is still going to get two teams in IMO.
