See, THIS is why Oregon has so many uni combinations

Teams that wear green, like Baylor, Colorado State or South Florida to name a few, are also affected. Under the proposal, they will be restricted from wearing all-green uniforms on their green fields. But let's be honest: This is the Boise State Rule.

Urban legend.

Eastern Washington installed red turf (pictured a few posts above) and Central Arkansas has purple and silver turf now, too.

Neither are FBS schools. It is a FBS rule.

UCA's turf looks pretty good in person. I stayed in the same town last year when bama played at Arkansas. I made a point to see that field. For a small school like UCA, they had a nice stadium.

I'm fine with the new rule, they've always had to refine the rules to prevent deception.

But they also need a green-only turf rule. I don't care about D1AA, they can do what they want—but D1A fields should be green, not clown-colored.

That purple and silver field isn't bad. Kinda cool for a small program.

This is good. They have to cheat in some way to stay relevant.

TCU sucked this year when they joined a big boy league. I'm still waiting for Boise to do the same.

Umm, TCU also had the most starting freshman in the country I believe. Youngest team in the nation. They had a lot of off the field trouble as well. They'll be good next year

The point is they were never going undefeated like they did when they had a cupcake schedule like Boise.

So many narrowminded reactionaries in this thread. Sorry to hear that innovation bothers people.

Boise's turf isn't really that bad even with the unis. It's not GREAT -- I wouldn't want it for my team -- but it's not half as horrible as people are making it out to be.

Central Arkansas's turf looks legitimately good but some tards in here want to ban that just because it doesn't fit their narrow conceptions of how a field is allowed to look. Damn shame.

This seems like a silly move on the part of the NCAA.

Thank you. I've been saying all along that's not fair to have an all blue uniform on the all blue field.

Exactly, and why are they being such douches about it? Can they not win wearing different colored unis? This is another reason Boise St. gets on my nerves.

Boise State has more wins on green fields than they do on blue fields

Ahem.

The unique blue turf has spawned several myths. The most prevalent is that the NCAA subsequently banned playing surface colors other than green, but allowed Bronco Stadium's field to remain blue under a grandfather clause.

In reality, the NCAA has never adopted such a rule. Any school may color its playing surface (or any part, mainly the end zones) any color it wishes.

Indeed, other schools have non-green football fields including the University of New Haven (blue)[20] and Eastern Washington University (red). [21]

On April 1, 2011, the University of Central Arkansas announced that they would install a purple and grey striped field to Estes Stadium.[22]

In 2012, Lindenwood University in Belleville, Illinois, played their first football season, on a home field with alternating maroon and gray stripes.

If such rule exists, where is it? And why would it only be for FBS teams?
