NCAA loses ability to enforce NIL policy in Tennessee and Virginia

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Judge just ruled that NCAA can't enforce NIL rules. Basically just openly made NIL the real wild west. Only applies to Tennessee and Virginia at the moment, but I would assume other states will follow. Get ready for a rise in ticket prices.

There is absolutely no reason for any school to give a shite what the NCAA says at this point. Take it to court, and the NCAA will get smacked down.

This was the deal as soon as the Supreme Court made a decision, and is why the NCAA hasn’t really even tried to do anything. They’re fricked, and nothing will hold up in court unless the players somehow decide to unionize and collectively bargain.

No. Network executives, NCAA, and conference commisioners have. None of this shite should even be making it to courts, but bc the NCAA is so incompetent people have no other option.

There are still sports that are run by the NCAA, just not football. I think the NCAA will eventually be no more, but we aren't to that point yet.

Well, if the university presidents would impose and enforce by the NCAA that all athletes must attend classes and meet a minimum grade point average then 75% of these NIL athletes would have a problem. Would be kicked out of school and not be able to play. But we know money rules the roost.

As the NCAA becomes less profitable we move closer to these athletes becoming employees which they aren’t going to like or at least the greater portion.

The NCAA didn't want players being paid. It was taken to court, and NIL became a thing. NIL quickly turned into boosters straight up paying people, and the NCAA can't do a damn thing about it.
NCAA wanted one time transfers, the courts struck that down. Now it's a free for all.
Combine both of those things, and you don't call that chaos?

I have no problem with a kid making a deal off his own NIL, but the way it is now there is no structure, rules, etc. Schools should never have been allowed to get involved in the deals. The cat's out of the bag, though, so here we are.
Schools need to just stop pretending that these are "student-athletes." They are being paid. They are employees or at the very least contract labor. These are the minor leagues for all of the professional leagues and tours.

So what would happen if all major colleges as a whole decided they weren’t going to play football (or any sport)? All athletes would remain on scholarship, and business would go as normal, except no games would be played
Kind of like a pro team lockout… it’s not like colleges and universities need their football teams to function

I think that’s kind of his point. The Presidents were loyal to the NCAA because it provided a sense of organization. Without it, we are seeing how bad it is. When the NCAA is eventually destroyed, there is going to need to be something to provide rules and stability.

Because no one would agree to that. People in positions of power make too much money off of football. Players need to play in order to make it to the NFL. Who would benefit from not playing games?
Btw the LSU athletic department gives millions of dollars to the university every year.
