Nash
Lebron
Wade
Iverson
Duncan
Kidd
Dirk
Byrant
Melo

And... this is suprise some...

Chauncey Billups.

Chauncey's career is eerily similar to Dennis Johnsons. Big, defensive PG with a knack for big plays. Great competitors and leaders. Finals MVPs. Among the better defensive guards to play the game (both could guard 1s 2s and 3s).

Dennis Johnson has more All-NBA defensive team nominations, but the all NBA defensive team nowadays is terrible, in terms of voting. Guys that are top notch on the ball defenders rarely get the accolades because its hard for media member to gauge their impact on a stat sheet (Artest, Perkins, Wallace).

I would put Tracy McGrady and Ray Allen above Billups.

I agree with most of your list. Nash, Lebron, Iverson, Duncan, Kidd, Dirk, Kobe and Wade are locks. Disagree with the Melo and Billups picks. I would replace Melo with KG. In my opinion, Garnett's the fourth best player of his generation after Shaq, Duncan and Kobe. And I think McGrady or even Paul Pierce has more of a case to be on the list than a Chauncey Billups. They were better players but just didn't have the supporting cast Chauncey had while they were in their prime.

Since this was the 64th NBA season, I'll add xiv teams to the original 50.

Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Allen Iverson
Lebron James
Jason Kidd
Reggie Miller
Steve Nash
Dirk Nowitzki
Gary Payton
Paul Pierce
Dennis Rodman
Dwayne Wade
Dominique Wilkins

I think this is the list. The only real quibble could be somebody else (B-B-B-Billups) instead of Payton but I could be sold on the Glove.

ETA: On the original 50 list, was Lenny Wilkens really more deserving than Dominique or Rodman?
