TNT drew 3.4 million viewers for Lakers-Clippers and 2.1 million viewers for Jazz/Pelicans.

MLB opening night ratings last week drew 4 million viewers for Yankees/Nationals and 2.8 million for Dodgers/Giants.

NBA regular season ratings have been going the wrong way for several years. I’m sure people will point to the kneeling or whatever but just not a very compelling product until the playoffs to me.

It is the ultimate social media sport where if you read twitter or watch the morning debate shows you would think it is about to overtake the NFL. When in reality it is 3rd in revenue among the major sports and will be for the foreseeable future.

It's national tv ratings usually beat baseballs and baseball's increased revenue comes from inherent differences but yea, basketball isn't catching baseball in revenue for the foreseeable future

It’s actually surprising for the NBA numbers
Didn’t that game start at 10pm?

Laker game was a 9:30 eastern start. Not sure how much of an impact that had but would assume it had some

Definitely a shocker to me.

But I wonder if the timing had any to do with that, meaning if the basketball game came first last week and the baseball game this week, how much that would have changed things...

Obviously there are inherent differences but MLB crushes NBA in local TV revenue and ratings.

Because there had been no sports for three months. Show me the baseball ratings now.

I’m a baseball over basketball guy but baseball benefitted tremendously from being the first major American team sport back. No offense to MMA or boxing or golf or NASCAR but it just doesn’t draw the attention or passion like team sports do.

I think that played a large part in it as well. I'm sure a lot of people who aren't really even baseball fans tuned in just because it was a return to live sports

MAGAS dont watch basketball because it's a sport for imbeciles who think because a guy can dribble he's smart enough to advise us on geopolitics and the economy.
