I can't even remember at this point, why did they leave Settle in the first place?
They didn’t want to build a new arena so the Landthieves stole them and are building a new $1b arena to open in 2028.
Seattle then rebuilt their arena opening in 2021 and named it Climate Pledge Arena hosting WNBA and Hockey

Seattle SuperSonics part 2 and Las Vegas Hookers (logo with a player shooting a hook shot).

So, you're telling me that the NBA is trying to expand when it should contract and then fold?
Bold move.
Bold move.

Seattle should just get its proper team back and forget about expansion
If the Thunder moved back to Seattle, that dipshit OU poster would have his head explode.
And this isn't a bad thing.

Makes sense to move Memphis to the East since they’re on that side of the Mississippi.
Yes, Memphis is further east, but Minnesota is currently on its own little island up there when it comes to the Western Conference, and right next to all the Central Division teams, while Memphis is still pretty close to NO, OKC, and the Texas teams

The NBA has been dead for years. Unwatchable product. They destroyed everything to do with the All-Star game. No defense. Flops galore.
Bring back the play of the 80's and it might be tolerable.
Once every season I try to give it a chance and can't. Five minutes of today's NBA is six minutes too long.

what kind of corporate support can OKC bank on in the coming years (besides Love's Travel Stop)?

I would be interested to know how many teams NBA owners think is 'too many'
If I'm getting paid $500 million to sign off on a new team?

the only real coverage gap is the area around St. Louis and KC. Other than that there's a team within a couple hours of every major metro area
And St Louis is only like 4 hours from Memphis and OKC is only like 5 from Kansas City, so even those cities aren't unreasonably far from a team, and those two cities also have other teams in other sports
Albuquerque, NM (1.15 million metro area) is really the only large city that isn't anywhere near a team, over 7+ hour drive to Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and OCK

And this should move Pels and Grizzlies back to the Eastern conference
Posted on 3/16/26 at 4:32 pm to usc6158
So then they will have an odd # of teams?

Nashville
Pittsburgh
Vancouver
Vegas
Seattle
Baltimore
Austin
Could all get teams potentially in the future.

Really good article talking about the expansion teams’ salary cap, expansion draft, and regular NBA draft and how that all works.
Short version is they would not get slotted number one and number two overall in the regular draft, and they have to work with a reduced salary cap in the first two years.
Really good article

The NBA would be better off removing two teams instead of adding two teams
quote:
.....why?
Because there isn't enough NBA caliber talent to fill out 30 rosters.

They are voting to add two
Thats the last thing they need to do
What a disaster

When 80-85% of the Lakers sold recently for $10 billion, then that helped set the price for expansion teams in the NBA’s eyes. If a 100% ownership stake in the Lakers is worth $12 Billion
It was a 10 billion dollar evaluation total.
The deal, which finalized in late October 2025, values the franchise at a record $10 billion, with the Buss family retaining a minority stake

So who from the west moves to the East, the Grizzlies and the Pelicans?

You are very wrong.
This is the most talented the NBA has ever been top to bottom.
You can be critical of the aesthetics of the "solved" NBA and have a solid leg to stand on, but talent? No. That's silly.
