That's according to his dad, Tito, who told The Boston Globe on Saturday night that the passionate, obsessive, arguably rabid fandom of crazy Boston people pushed Al towards the Celtics, saying "there wasn’t as much motivation for him when he saw all the empty seats when they were winning [in Atlanta]. He said to me, ‘Dad, when we were playing Boston, they were down 15 points and they were cheering their team like they were winning the game. They’re so into the game.’"

Boston averaged about 1,500 more fans that Atlanta last season, and less than 200 more the year before.

Yeah whatever man. The league is as popular as it's ever been, you can keep projecting what you don't like though and act like you have the pulse of everyone. That's what's great about America.

I think the "some parity" argument holds weight...the NBA probably wants 8-10 contenders.

LeBron is on his second super team and the league is more popular than ever dumbass.

Ohhhh you DONT SAY....... we have unprecedented amounts of games being aired on TV compared to the 90s....can watch on Internet or 70 inch smart TV's......more social connectivity....global players coming in droves....

People like sports. People like basketball. Correlation does not equal causation.

Get back to me when you get an education. A top heavy league is good for WWE nerds. Not for bball purists you pussy front running millenial

The NBA wants money and popularity. Both are at an all time high. So apparently a couple of super teams is what the people want.

There have been 4 different champions in the last 4 years. Maybe we should have parity like when the Bulls 3-peated twice or when the lakers 3 peated in the 2000's or when the Lakers and Celtics won all of the championships.

The only constant in the finals the past 6 years is LBJ. How can you blame GS for being far and away the best team in the west in the regular season?

We've had 4 different champions in the last 4 years. 6 different in the last 7. 7 different in the last 9.

You're so mad the Mavs can't form a "super team" even though they try every offseason.

I'll watch Portland games with hope and excitement even if KD signed a vet minimum to play with Bron. It's being a fan of the team and game.

Typical NBA thread on the msb. Old people think that the current era is the worst ever blah blah blah and all the reasons given apply much much more to their favorite era than it does today.

Lack of parity
Super teams
No defense
Cant drive in without getting a whistle
Etc etc

All apply moreso to the 80's and 90's than it does today.
