If Clint take his QO Deandre is gonna get CC tattoo before the season is even over. He’s been chomping at the bit to come at that point he would come play for whatever they will give him. Kinda like Gerald.

That was the case both before and after Luc & Trevor left.

Short of acquiring LBJ this offseason, not a single MSB poster (including myself) would have said anything different no matter who we acquired. I don't think anyone could come up with a (feasible) free agent wish list for HOU that would have put them in front of GS.

Agree?

More or less. I don't think they could have done anything in FA short of LeBron to be better than GS.

I think they could have had a chance retaining their base lineup from 17-18. I think that chance evaporates subbing Melo and MCW for Ariza and Luc. So, it went from like a 5% chance vs GS to 0%.

Right, I can't believe he turned down a multi-year MLE offer.

he’s a Houston guy what can I say. For the flood he was all over town in his big truck rescuing and helping out wherever he could. he’s gonna be really good this year for CC.

It does not appear as though restricted free agent Clint Capela and the Houston Rocketsare anywhere close to a contract agreement.

ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon reported Tuesday that Houston's initial offer is in the ballpark of four years and $60 million. Meanwhile, Capela, per MacMahon, is looking for a deal in the range of $100 million over four years, which would be similar to Oklahoma City Thundercenter Steven Adams' contract.

From Feigen:

James Ennis. Not a bad pick up at all.

quote:

A decision from Ennis’ camp is expected by Wednesday, a person with knowledge of the talks said. Depending on Ennis’ salary, the Rockets could spend more on Ennis in salary and taxes than they would have if Mbah a Moute had accepted their $2.4 million offer because Mbah a Moute’s years of service would have had his salary cost just $1.5 million and count that much in tax calculations.

Not bad.

It appears that the Lakers used cap space to sign Lance, rather than the room MLE, which means they still have the room MLE. Wonder who they are keeping that for (possibly Melo, though I don't think he's a fit).

Per @JonathanFeigen, looks like the #Rockets will pitch Carmelo on possibly coming off the bench and anchoring those second units with Chris Paul. On the other hand, Miami may offer him the chance to start:LINK

Story filed to ESPN: In advance of an inevitable – if not imminent – parting, the Oklahoma City Thunder granted Carmelo Anthony permission to meet with prospective teams, including Houston and Miami. Meetings took place in Vegas in recent days.

Yeah, they can take back Ryan Anderson lol.

Other than him, the Rockets aren't dealing.

I assume Anderson would cause a high tax bill as well.

Yea, the Thunder wouldn't take him back. That would only save them about 1m in cap this season, and would add more seasons that they'd have to pay for stretching him.

NBA sources confirm the #Rockets did have a meeting with Carmelo Anthony. That meeting took place in Las Vegas after permission was granted by OKC.

Capela is asking 25 million per yr and Houston offered 15 million a year.

Only thing protecting Houston from falling into pit of despair is how few teams actually need a 25 million dollar "defense and boards" center whose offense range is a dunk.
He's worse than Howard.

$15 million is reasonable for him given his role.

Capela is better than Howard in many ways. Younger, quicker, more versatile defender, and he plays within a team gameplan far far better than Howard.

Notice how the Rockets didn't miss a beat after Howard left? Capela had a lot to do with that.

Capela on the offensive end is dependent on great guards and ball distributors though. If you don't have that Capela only has clean up duty as a viable offensive option. He'll become a Marcus Camby type guy.

I guess OKC is looking to add someone? Not sure how they dont take back salary somehow.

Thunder are working on trade scenarios where Anthony, 34, would be moved as an expiring contract and be waived, becoming a free agent once his $28M clears waivers. OKC needs the Anthony’s permission to waive no-trade clause, which he has done to facilitate his exit, sources said.

I haven't seen Howard in a while. I defer to you.

I agree the 15 is about right.

I was joshing about it but the marketplace will soon sort this out. I shudder to think of boom if Capela's agent beats the rox offer by 8 or 10 million.
