Addendum to earlier Pistons intel: they're not eager to part ways with Josh Smith as has been indicated. Value him and not eager to dump.

While this is frustrating on the surface, Josh Smith does have value. And SVG already said that he would be hard pressed to make any significant moves without at least coaching all of these guys first. I find that attitude somewhat refreshing, that he's not making moves at this time out of panic. I'm interested to see if he can make it work (if Smith and Monroe stay).

giving the impression you are eager to dump a player makes his value pretty crappy. Why not say they want to keep him? Just maintains his value, whatever that may be

Josh Smith gets crapped on all the time here, but I would rather have Smith next to Drummond than Monroe.

I would just like to inform y'all that per Tim Legler on ESPN, no other "big 3" has ever worked in history except for Miami because Lebron is Magic Johnson-like.

I agree 100%. And I love Monroe. But I've said it on this board 10 times. Smith is a much better 4 than Monroe.

Could also argue that the Pistons had a big 3 with Thomas, Dumars and Laimbeer

Pat Riley is confident that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh will return to Miami.

Riley will reportedly meet with James in Las Vegas on Tuesday, while Bosh mulls a max offer that he has received from the Houston Rockets. Riley didn't make the splash most were expecting by signing Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger on Monday, but that hasn't diminished his confidence. The Heat president remained confident that the Big 3 will return, according to people who have had phone conversations with Riley in the last week. Riley's phone conversation's don't guarantee anything, but the fact that he isn't hitting the panic button should come as good news for Heat fans.

He's not going to get a big contract at 34 years old. As it stands now he's going to be overpaid if he accepts the max contract from the Rockets

For the right team, and the Rockets seem to be the right team, I think the money's worth it. Realistically he's the best improvement they can make.

This dude is gonna look like a real dumbass if this doesn't happen:
@TheSharkVK: When you see Jarret Jack has been traded, the announcement of Lebron's return will then be imminent

The link would be worthless. That entire blurb can be summarized as "Pat Riley not freaking out just yet. Thus, LeBron still may sign there."

I have absolutely no problem with the Rockets offering the max to Bosh.

This is the Rockets' last chance to land a big-time player. If they strike out, they won't be able to use Parsons' bird rights. They'll have to re-sign him using their cap space, and they will have very little left over.

If the Rockets sign Bosh, then they can go over the cap to re-sign Parsons. But like I said, if they strike out, they are screwed. They'll have the same team as last year except no Asik and no cap space. That would suck.
