So...if the Timberwolves were in the Eastern Conference and made the playoffs, Love would somehow be a better player?

Exactly.

Minnesota went 40-42, that would have been good enough for the 8th seed in the East.

Minnesota went 23-29 in conference. They went 17-13 vs the East. Convert the win %s to 52 games vs. the east, it would have been 30-22 in "east conference" and 13-17 in the west to give them +3 wins, 43-39, which could have been tied for the 7th seed.

...and most advanced metrics show they were actually better than their record. Missing Pek for 28 games didn't help either.

They lost a lot of games at the end. They couldn't seal the deal.

Love is an unproven player as well until he performs in games that matter - the playoffs. Minnesota has no choice. They have to get rid of Love before the end of next season or he'll be gone and they'll be left with nothing. Getting Wiggins is a pretty great deal for them as he could develop into a superstar

Lots of great players (especially young players) have still never made the playoffs. Look at DeMarcus. With the way that team is run, they may never make the playoffs. Does that change the way you view him?

How about Anthony Davis? It is very conceivable that the Pelicans are at least a year or two away (maybe more!) from making the playoffs in the West. Does that take away from how good he is?

Dude should be fought for thinking that trolling an 'insider' with 1,500 followers is an accomplishment worthy of that long message board post.

It's not about if he's comparable to Love or not. He doesn't have to be. If Wiggins comes out playing like the best rookie in 10 years, then I think that makes him untouchable, or certainly decreases the total compensation due to Minnesota. But how do you know what you have if you ship him away before he plays in a regular season game? I'm just saying why not make an informed decision based on sound information instead of assumptions.

If he sucks, why would MN still want him?

I don't know how to answer this.

Minnesota's going to decide that a 19 year old kid's a bust 3 months into his career?

Then why the hell would they want him basically sight unseen right now?

If they want him now, they'll want him then. Nothing short of him blowing out his ACL will change that.

There is a long arse list of Power Forward's that people that you could never win with.

We saw it here with Zach Randolph first hand. Al Jefferson is another example people trashed that signing by Charlotte.

Yep. Al Jefferson is a great example. He was 'one-dimensional' and put up 'empty stats.'

How about Rasheed Wallace?

Wallace got trashed due to his attitude and was incredibly underrated but he's a whole different case than these guys. Only missed the playoffs in his rookie year

What conclusion would Cleveland come to 3 months into his career to decide to trade him, then? Your post offered that he'd either be a badass and they'd keep him, or they could still dump him for a top 10 player. I'm just wondering why Minnesota wouldn't come to the same conclusion

Cleveland has to pull the trigger and win now.

That's what LBJ wants. If not hes gonna bail again and the contract he signed proves that

Lebron is going nowhere. The contract he signed was purely based on the new collective bargaining deal in 2 years
