Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka reached out Russell's agents to set up a meeting to discuss a possible reunion with Los Angeles, league sources told ESPN. The Lakers, flush with $32 million in salary cap space, are searching for a third All-Star to partner with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Both the Lakers and Russell are intrigued about exploring a possible return to Staples Center.

The Lakers traded Russell, a No. 2 overall pick in 2017, to the Nets with Timofey Mozgov for Brook Lopez and the No. 27 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to clear space to sign two max-level free agents. The Lakers signed LeBron James, traded for Davis and could ultimately sign Russell back into the space.

Pat is going to get like a 3/40 offer from someone. Maybe 3/45. Y'all aren't getting him unless you whiff on your main targets.

Since both DWade and Bulter went to Marquette, I'm sure Jimmy looks at Wade like a role model.

Bev would be perfect to target as a main role player with about half their space. I hope he doesn’t end up there because it’s tough for me to root against him

Beverley would be my #1 target if the Lakers miss on both Kawhi and D’Lo, and they split the space imo

The issue with this is teams are going to have already offered overpaid money to him. I doubt he waits to see if the Nets renounce or for a sign and trade.

Amick reporting that last year humbled Lebron and he’s recruiting Kawhi by offering to be the #3 option on offense

That didn’t work when he took a back seat to prime 29 year old Dwayne Wade. His entire career has been successful with him being ball dominant.

He can tell them whatever, but zero chance LeBron believes he’s the third best player on a title team.

Al Horford may have followed Jrue Holiday and Zion Williamson on Twitter today … but the Pelicans are not actively pursuing Horford as the opening bell of free agency draws near, league sources say

TFWIW he said the Lakers were out 4 days ago and they had no chance to sign him

Stein indicated the pels aren't interested in 4 year vet deals, and Horford left Boston with that in mind.

If this were Demps, we'd have a 4 year $75 million deal signed with Trey Burke by 6:05 tomorrow.

I think with Griff and Langdan, we're more likely looking to use our cap space to absorb short term "bad contracts" in exchange for assets.

Why would Lebron take a backseat to Kawhi or AD on offense?
