I’m not saying that the Thunder made a bad deal, they didn’t. But the deal does not in itself “prove” that they could get “assets” for Westbrook, because they took on a player/contract that I would assume most people is worse than Westbrook (not for the parameters of this deal, but in a general sense).
This would make more sense if it was a straight up deal, Westbrook for CP3. But they also got 2 first round picks and 2 pick swaps. Clearly they got assets for Westbrook, even if you exclude CP3.

And somehow, that doesn’t “prove” (why is that in quotes exactly?) that they could get “assets” (that too. Are draft picks not assets now?) for Westbrook?

What are you even trying to say?
what he's saying is that Westbrook is -5, CP3 is -10 and the assets are +5. Okc gave away -5 and got back -10+5 in return (-5).

Just took some randol numbers to explain to you what he's saying. Not that I agree with it

Oh my fricking God, you are going to make me melt with due to stupidity. I’m trying to say that the motherfricking Thunder didn’t make a trade and only get back positive assets, they also took back a negative asset, so it’s fricking stupid to say that they got assets for Westbrook, because maybe the assets were due to them receiving a shittier contract than Westbrook’s. Is that hard to understand? They could’ve traded Westbrook for Wall plus a few first round picks, would you be saying “See, they traded Westbrook for positive assets, look at these picks!”, no, because that’s fricking stupid.

I get that.

And disagreement with the assigned number values from okc’s perspective aside, he still said multiple times he didn’t think okc would get back any assets for Westbrook. So in your example, no +5

You’re getting the +5 because you’re taking a -10

Seems like you’ve been there the entire discussion already dude.

And I’m saying, along with multiple other people in this thread, that for the thunder paul’s contract is a less negative asset than westbrook’s is. To go over this again, it’s for less years, less money, and makes their team worse, which improves all these future draft picks they are stockpiling.

But somehow you don’t understand that, while you melt about my stupidity.

Well no, because we’ve already been through this. Wall’s contract is undoubtedly worse than both Paul and westbrook’s The thunder would pay him even more than they were supposed to pay Westbrook, for the same amount of time. That doesn’t make any sense for them, andvis not the same situation. At all.

Westbrook was 3rd team all-nba this past season, and his market value is projected to exceed his contract. To argue that he’s a negative asset is ridiculous, but to argue that he’s such a negative asset that CP3, 2 first round picks, AND 2 pick swaps don’t even make-up for him, is a whole other level of asinine.

“I wasn’t sure that the Thunder were going to get assets for Westbrook.”

“so they didn’t “clearly” get assets for Westbrook.”

“they got assets for him”

Think that’s enough for me. Good luck continuing to talk yourself in circles.

Good lord I go out for one night and things explode again???

How many years does Russ have on his deal??

Because I feel like they just got a, and we can debate on what level, somewhat coveted player here for a guy who was a COMPLETE dead end.

Nobody is winning with Chris and his contract.

Harden and this system is outright filthy. Move Russ into it and see what ya got this year and then move him if you have to. It’s better than trying to work with Chris and his compounding contract moving forward.

That doesn’t appear to be the intent for OKC anyway.

Of course. They’re perfectly suited to take him on while they tank their dicks off and await their picks from LAC.

Could CC have ever gotten a better player in exchange for Chris?

Does nobody envision Russ clawing and scratching out some real value in this league in the near future?
