I doubt we make a serious offer until after Brooklyn renounces their rights for him and signs kyrie

I thought that Brooklyn had to sign more than Kyrie for Brooklyn to need to renounce?

I was more talking about something I'd assume they would do because they would presumably be moving on from dlo after signing kyrie and would want as much cap space as possible to fill out the supporting pieces after signing kyrie

But I may be wrong and they may still want dlo after signing kyrie. In which case, yea, that would be a difficult spot for the Lakers

I still feel like DLo gets a max offer somewhere

Woj and Lowe are live on ESPN 2 with their free agency special right now

quote:

Woj: At least two of Clint Capela, Eric Gordon, and P.J. Tucker would have to be moved in a Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade.

quote:

Lowe: It's very unlikely that Jimmy Butler does an opt-in-and-trade a la Chris Paul two years ago.

Butler and CP3 would be so incredible even as a Rockets fan. There’s like a 10% chance they would win a title and a 90% chance they murder each other on the court. But god damn would it be entertaining

Wall’s is second worst, Paul’s is the worst. Mozgov and Parsons were still worse all-time though.

I would love to see the argument for picking up 4/170 on Wall over 3/125 on Paul. Wall wasn’t all that good with TWO good Achilles last year.

Jimmy is a great teammate. When he has teammates who take the game as seriously as him. When his teammate is a guy like KAT who plays fortnight til the sun comes up on game days jimmy does not play that at all.

Yeah there’s no contract in sports more onerous than Wall’s right now. Paul’s is bad but that one is next level. At least CP3 can still contribute to winning basketball

Guess that justifies trying to steal his girl too right?

Woj: Asked about whether Bucks go 1/3, 2/3, or 3/3 in retaining their main free agents (Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon, and Brook Lopez), Woj says maybe 2/3 and points out Brogdon as the one that may be hard to retain. Lowe says either 2/3 or 3/3 with Brogdon being tough...

Woj: D'Angelo Russell back to the Lakers is a "legitimate scenario." Lakers are rooting for Kyrie Irving to go to Brooklyn so that Brooklyn renounces Russell's rights, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Oh he’d absolutely get a max from some scrub teams with loads of space if he was genuinely interested in going there, I agree.

I’d probably argue the majority of teams would be dumb not to max him.

I just find the Lakers thing intriguing. If he goes there, he’s taking a discount. If he’s taking a discount, it makes the Nets less likely to renounce his rights even if they get Kyrie. It is nowhere near a black and white situation and THAT is the intrigue. So many storylines, potential gambles, and moves involved that actually have reverberating impacts on the rest of free agency for those quality role players like the Redicks, Greens, and Beverlys of the NBA. You might get some discounts on those guys because of the role you’re offering. But those guys aren’t going to wait around for a week while money’s flying around in free agency just on the chance the Lakers don’t land Russell.

If there’s a genuine desire for Russell to play there at that price over better offers, this will be fun to watch.

Woj: If there isn't a five-year max on Klay Thompson's table at 6:01PM EST on Sunday evening, they can expect him to take meetings. Names the Clippers as one team he would meet with.

No he isn’t. Sorry. Don’t even try that.

Woj said we'd get a meeting with Klay if we traded for AD and the warriors didnt max him. Would hope that's still true

Woj mentions Darren Collison and Terrance Ross again for options if LAL DOESN’T use cap room on a max guy.
