The key for me is if the spurs can contain miamis cutting. They're going to have to really play tight defense. If wade or bosh come alive against the older ginobili or duncan, spurs are in for a long series ( short). I think the spurs will out shoot the heat from 3.

This will be a damn good series. I just don't know if they can control bron's verticality

That's actually a pretty good analysis. The spurs better out shoot the heat from 3 if they want to go deep in the series. If the spurs aren't on point, the heat have the ability to make quick work of this series. But I fully expect the spurs to play very well. The spurs are a championship team. I'm looking forward to this one.

Also, Kawhi leonard has almost the exact same dimensions as shawn marion and weighs the same as him. Marion defended bron well in dallas' s champ run, perhaps better than anyone else has in the playoffs.

Leonard is just 21 though, and lebron has improved his post game tremendously. I don't see duncan being able to give much help d. So if bron can post leonard up and out jump the spurs, it'll be a key for a miami victory. Conversely, if leonard can emulate sean marion, the spurs should have a relatively easy go at the ship.

Lebron won't be able to take too many dribbles in the post though with tony parker helping. The heat will need to guard parker's speed with cole probably, who I don't trust to hit 3s on kickouts. I honestly don't think the heat have any answer for parker with ginobili keeping wade's attention. The spurs depth of 3 point shooters is ridiculous. I gotta go spurs.

Eta: the pacers let the heat set a fast pace in game 7. Pop is too smart to let that happen. The athleticism of the heat is explosive, but the spurs are the best eauipped to deal with the defensive/offensive explosions the heat can exert.

See, I'm thinking those kick outs to Chalmers/Cole and Ray will be what cause the spurs to be spread open (no homo). If they don't double down on Bron, those will be easy. If they do, then the Heat kick it out for wide open 3s. The spurs, I think, won't be able to outscore the Heat. Wade slashing and Bosh spotting up on the perimeter. The spurs will have to D up in a serious way and I don't see them being able to shut the heat down for 4 out of 7. I see it going seven though. I am excited as a basketball fan for this matchup.

As I said before, I'm going Heat in 7.

Ray allen and chalmers seem like defensive liabilities to me. The heat haven't exactly been on fire from 3 and I think you're underestimating manu and danny green's defense+length on wade, he will probably have trouble operating in the post like he likes to. Lebron is the best player in the series and he is getting guarded by a 21 year old so he could very well blow games wide open. It will certainly be interesting to see whose shots are falling

The heat just remind me of the showtime lakers so much, perenially having fun and in the finals but not always champs.

No it's not a fact, just your opinion. Spurs' path was more difficult than miami's though, without question.

Dunno man. I'm a spurs fan too, but I gotta say, in spite of Game 7 Indiana put up a hell of a fight

Well, they've been to the Finals every year that they've had the Big 3

BUT yet in the Pacers series they BOTH SUCKED. Hence"just like the Pacers series.........

Because the Pacers have more matchup advantages on the defensive end than the Spurs.

Oh and the best defense in the League.

I'm not sure you can compare Lebron from 2 years ago to now. He all but quit in the Finals against Dallas and he has improved immensely.

It will be a very entertaining Finals. Both teams probably play with the highest basketball IQ's and can beat teams in a number of ways. I think Lebron will get his either way. IMO Pop's best strategy is to let that happen and try to contain the 3 point shooting as much as possible. I think Indiana proved that unless Lebron has a heroic performance, he can't win without his supporting cast, unlike a lot of people on this board believe.

As a team, I agree. But Basketball is all about matchups and Indiana I think posed more individual matchup problems than the Spurs will, just IMO.
