quote:

I have a lot of respect for the kids who are out here fighting. But it’s hard for me to understand why we have to go to war, why kids have to kill kids around the world,” Noah said. “So I have mixed feelings about being here. I’m very proud of this country. I love America but I just don’t understand kids killing kids around the world.” [...] “I’m not anti-troops. It’s just not comfortable for me to see kids going to war and coming back having seen what they’ve seen and done what they’ve done. It’s sad for me. It’s sad for me. They’re just sent out for things that are — I don’t really want to get into it, to be honest with you. It’s just hard for me.”

He's not wrong, pretty sad in this day and age we can't see the negatives of killing off one another.

Seems fair to me. War is hell and not everybody supports it. Nothing he said was disrespectful or wrong.

To be fair, I don't think many people at West Point were excited at the opportunity to meet Joakim Noah

That must be super nice. For you to not understand why war exists.

I don't have a problem with his comments. He has a differing viewpoint than most here, but he was respectful and articulate.

wish he would've called a spade a spade - they're henchmen for the state.

The top comment:
quote:

If Noah doesn’t want to support an organization that ruins young men’s lives then he shouldn’t have signed with the Knicks.

His comments would lead me to think he'd walk to West Point to thank the men and women who signed up to defend all of us, but have been put in an unfavorable position by politicians.

not much of a stretch. i have many friends and family that are MIL, and they acknowledge that there's no altruism in their pursuits. they just do as ordered

The only reason this clown can play a game for millions of dollars is because countless brave men and women have died to create the country and conditions for him to do so.
