Best career? That remains to be seen.. Best player? Absolutely.

The record speaks for itself... he has DOMINATED the man with the most career Grand Slams in that man's prime in an era of stupendous depth of talent. Now that he has improved his serving and lobbying he is just staggering to watch.

Aside from all that there's not an ounce of arrogance in the man. Rafa!

To be fair he was beating Roger when he was at his peak though.

on clay, I don't think Federer was at his peak when Rafa finally got him at Wimbeldon a couple of years ago.

Nadal does have more majors at a younger age he has a great case to be the GOAT

Also, a lot of those earlier victories came on Nadal's best surface. However, Nadal has a chance to claim he is the best ever if his knee holds up, he just isn't there yet.

The only reason you think RF was not at his prime at Wimbledon is because Nadal beat him.

Some of Nadal's forehands yesterday even put Agassi's to shame.

no, Fed lost in the SF at the Austrailian that year as well. He won 3 of the 4 the 2 years prior. I think he had also lost some other tourneys that year (08) as well. Its not a knock on Nadal, a declining Federer is still 1 of the all time greats. Feds best years, 06-07 Nadal only beat him in the French. Right now I'd still say Fed was the best, but a serious case can be made for Nadal.

He had just started passing his prime when Nadal beat him there. These arguments suck because of the level of competition at the times of each players carreers.

Like John McEnroe was saying, its a different era now. Different rackets, different training, etc. Its hard to compare players from different eras. With that said, Rafa's game this year is as complete as i have ever seen anyone's. He has very little if no holes in his game and he can wear ANYONE out on tour. I haven't seen all the old footage but IMO he may have been playing the best tennis anyone ever has in a season.

Well Rod Laver won the season slam twice. The way nadal is playing now is dominant, But until he can win a season slam, I will have to put Laver over him.

The only thing I don't know how he gets away with is the hack/chop return. I know he might be the greatest passer of all-time, but I think a good serve and volleyer could get a lot of easy points off of Rafa's weak returns.

That's his only weakness right now but it helps the really no one plays at the net anymore. Fed implementing this into his game had me intrigued about a potential finals matchup, but it didn't happen.
