LSU-Clemson had 29 million last year

The LSU-Clemson showdown was also the biggest viewership audience for any cable program...According to ESPN, the MegaCast audience peaked at 29.2 million around when LSU took the lead late in the second quarter.

That's peak. Average a little over 25 mil. Which was lower than the worst rated nfl wild card game ratings.

NFL is just on another level

Yeah, it’s also cable vs free OTA which results in big differences as well

Was more comparing the fall of in the title games

I think you'd be shocked at the number of households that don't pay for ESPN

CFB relies on small college towns.

NFL relies on massive cities.

It was a weird football season. No fans, depleted rosters. Even with Bama fatigue the main reason deals with COVID.

That’s it right there. No one outside of Bama fans care to watch them win another title. Also OSU isn’t a very well liked team either. And unlike the first two title games with Clemson, this was already looking like a blowout before halftime.
