I know I've heard commentators talk about teams having "momentum" going into halftime, which is what in real time? 15-20 minutes? Is there a time limit where momentum vanishes?

I am not sure what the argument is here. The blackout most likely affected how the game played out (meaning most likely the final score wouldn't be 34-31). But that's obvious, to believe otherwise is just stupid.
Now did it affect one team more than the other? That, just like with most hypotheticals, we'll never know.
We do know however that the Niners played much better than the Ravens in the 10 minutes (game time) that followed the blackout.
This could be a pure coincidence, as they have come back in similar fashion before, or could be due to the fact that the Niners had a much better approach during the blackout (coaching, trainers, etc).
The Niners would have made it a game late either way, IMO but the way the game would have played out is definitely different.

They would have made a run. I guess. BUT The way the Ravens were playing and the way the game was going[AT THE TIME] If there is NO lights out. The Ravens would have SCORED more points. IMO. They were DOMINATING the 49ers. NOT just beating them..[DOMINATING them].

The halftime was longer than usual, and then the blackout happened.
PJ is right about the kickoff return, the ravens had to be flying sky high and the niners were doubting themselves. Football is about energy and momentum, especially defensively.

I don't mind watching her spreading her legs AGAIN AND AGIN, BUT. I was burnt out by why it took SOOO long. I do not believe in momentum. Some of it is just unexplainable randomness. The rest of it is just the game being played out.

Then you are clueless to how a GAME is played out. The WHOLE prep and practices are geared to get mojo,. If it is broken ... It can have an effect. ESP when what you have practiced is working so well. The Ravens were KICKING arse. And that so called UN PREPARED FOR break effected the MOJO they had. YES they are PROS and maybe they should have recovered better. BUT In a game like that????? NO.

Exactly. And there had only been 2 snaps in the 2nd half before the lights went out.
It's more likely the 49ers got back into the game because they made the proper adjustments at halftime. That's what caused the shift in momentum, not the lights.

Your own argument works against you. SF could only benefit by having more time to adjust. Baltimore took them by surprise. The blackout gave SF time to discern the offensive packages used by Baltimore.

The blackout had a negative effect on Baltimore, no doubt about it. There was absolutely no good that could have come out of it for them.

How? Baltimore didn't run an offensive snap in the 2nd half before the blackout.
Any adjustments would've been made entirely at halftime.

Another thing people aren't talking about is the possible lack of headset communication between the booth and sidelines.

The 49ers side lost power and couldn't talk to the coaches in the booth. I think it's an NFL rule that if one side can't talk to their coaches upstairs the other side can't either.

Its already been said but the Ravens could only be hurt by the BO.
NFL network made a good point. Its like a heavyweight fight. You have the guy on the ropes and if you land another shot or two he is out. Instead they (Niners) got to gather themselves.

The whole idea is laughable that people fall for that cliche stuff.

So some of you are telling me you don't believe there is a psychological element in sports? You can call it momentum or whatever the hell you want, but when players are so used to a routine day after day and an unforeseen situation like this happens, it's human nature to be at least somewhat psychologically affected by it.
