I don't think it matters that he threw it from out of play. It was a dead ball at that point.

Ok…there were a couple of earlier posts saying they advanced because of the throw.

this has to be weird for Joe. like he generally does a good job at coming across as impartial when doing national games but you know theres a bit of him that died when stanton hit that homer or during the top of the 10th

Rangers walked it off in Game 1 last year as well and won. Hell of a start for the Dodgers.

Their other options, from a quick look at the roster, for lefty vs. lefty were Hill, who was arse against the Guardians, and Mayza who was arse in the regular season. Unless you want to bring Rodon in from the starters to try to get an out.

You can't go crazy blowing through your pitching staff in Game 1 of a seven-game series even with the crapload of pitchers teams carry now. The Yankees were in trouble when Kahnle and Weaver couldn't get it done.

Agreed, I think he generally does a good job of masking it, but couldn’t blame him if he let some extra emotion slip considering the checks he cashes from the Dodgers and the relationships he has there.

Like you said really crazy spot for him to be in. Every once in a while I’ll get bitchy about him when the Dodgers are rolling and joke about him being Dodger Joe but that’s just because I’m a colossal loser hater

Crazy thing is it was another Dodger announcer (Vin) that called the Gibson homer.

That ball has got to be worth, bright now, at least a million dollars, maybe two. In all of baseball history there's only one ball ever attributed to a grand slam walk off in the world series. Whoever got that is going to get a nice payday from some collector, although I bet he makes some kind of deal with MLB and The Dodgers.

That was one hell of a stressful game. Something makes me think that the whole series is going to be like this. So happy for Freddie!

The Ohtani 50/50 ball went to auction and sold for 4.3 million.

Abysmal management by Boone, but it’s hard to be pissed off about that when your MVP captain comes up with two on and two out and pops up softly.
