Odubel Herrera suspended for rest of the season for violating domestic violence policy

So the Mets Yankees really trying to trade?

No clue I’m watching Mlb network though and they’re talking about it as it’s breaking news

Was a blatant payoff, MLB plays no games.

We will probably see what the starter market looks like considering hill will be back in September at the earliest

Posted this in the DAT but I was taking look at the All star break standings as we sit with 3 weeks to till the trade deadline and no waiver deadline for the borderline teams to wait on. The next 3 weeks will be interesting as we've got a lot of teams within legitimate striking distance of the wild card spots. These teams are going to have to decide to buy, sell or stand pat and see what happens...
Cleveland and Washington have made runs into wild card competition at the break so it looks like they'll either buy or stand pat. White Sox are a young team hovering around .500 which is reason for encouragement and they'll likely stand pat.
quote:
AL Standings:
Yankees 6.5 game lead on Tampa
Twins 5.5 game lead on Cleveland
Astros 7.5 game lead on Oakland
Wild Card
Tampa with .5 game lead on Cleveland
Oakland, Boston and Arlington within 3 games of the 2nd wild card spot. LAA and White Sox are hovering near .500 and then you get the drop off of total non contenders behind them. SEA, TOR, KC, DET, BAL
quote:
NL Standings:
Braves 6 game lead on Washington
Dodgers 13.5 game lead on Arizona
And in the tightest divisional race the Cubs have a .5 game lead over Milwaukee with St. Louis 2 behind, Pittsburgh 2.5 behind and last place Cincinnati 4.5 behind.
All of that makes for a really bunched up Wild Card race
Washington with a .5 game lead over Philly
Brewers are .5 game behind Philly and the 6th team down the list is Pittsburgh at 2.5 games behind.

#RedSox pushing to add a starting pitcher, sources tell The Athletic. Would prefer to act sooner rather than later. Casting wide net.

Multiple teams probably looking for a good starter now. Probably going to drive prices way up.

Bumgarner and Stroman are two of the best on the market
Doubt Mets move Wheeler or Matz
Boyd I just don't trust right now

The Twins’ need for bullpen help has been apparent for much of the season, and La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that they’ve “definitely checked on” a pair of the market’s top options: Blue Jays closer Ken Giles and Padres closer Kirby Yates. Both right-handers are controlled through the 2020 season via arbitration. Neal notes that the Blue Jays and Padres both had scouts on hand to watch the Twins’ Triple-A club recently, as did the Diamondbacks and Pirates (presumably, in addition to multiple other organizations).

Wheeler is a free agent at the end of the year and I can’t see the Mets signing him this offseason. I think the Mets should think about moving Thor but he hasn’t been great this year. The best starter available will be Stroman but I think the Blue Jays aren’t motivated to move him. With the wildcards being so up for grabs in both divisions not many teams are selling. The bad teams aren’t really moving players under team control either.

I really think Zach Greinke gets moved to a team and I think the Giants mess this up and never end up trading Bumgarner

Doesn’t seem to be a lot of bullpen help available. I’d want no part of Giles

Giles, Yates, Will Smith, Tony Watson, Jake Diekman, Sam Dyson, Shane Greene, Mychal Givens, Alex Colome, Andrew Cashner, Francisco Liraiano, Craig Stammen, Ian Kennedy, Mark Melancon, Jared Hughes
